I don't think she is a Christian! She says that Columbus only wanted the Indians to be slaves and as a source of Gold. Her opinions without any notations of where whe got that. Also uses the word "indigenous" for Indians. And that word is leftist!

I’ve never gotten to see a full high school level student workbook. Is that what you guys are using? And how does it compare to the middle school? It looks like a lot of research!!
@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife
@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife 6 сағат бұрын
With this unit, we had the middle school level already because I purchased the whole year when she was creating year 3 units. There wasn’t much of a difference between it and the high school level so I didn’t bother purchasing it. I have noticed that we the high school level there may be two to three more questions on a page. There is a good amount of research, but nothing too overwhelming.

I made my own Seatwork journal a while ago for the Ancient Civilizations unit. Check out this video:kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5C5paFpqq5pbZYsi=s0JH3Yvu-0Ike6BK I don’t have the file anymore, but if I created a new one, I would definitely add some grammar to it. You have actually given me a good idea. I need to make another one with a unit that doesn’t have Seatwork.

Oh my..I relate to everything you said 😑 We are now into our 4th year of homeschooling and my son is in grade 5. The last two years have been a dumpster fire because I tried to homeschool "my way" and "what I thought everyone else was doing". ugh. Learned my lesson. I went back to a curriculum that he enjoys and is short and sweet even though there's been so many videos about "how bad this is and we are no longer using it". Sometimes you have to go against the mainstream tide and use what works. I also overbought when he was younger and now realize i have closets of curriculum I will never use because he is not a classical learner :P. but i'm slowly adjusting and getting out of my head of what I "should" be doing based on popular opinion haha. We do have a really good balance of activities as well so I"m fortunate to be able to provide those opportunities for him. As of rme time..yaaaa I need to do better...always feel guilty like I should be doing something productive when I"m not schooling haha

Hello, this is my first year homeschooling my kids. (12 years old "7th", 9 years old"4th", 5 years old"K", and have an almost 2 year old) What we are doing: Math (the good and the beautiful) However, I am open to suggestions 7th grade math as my son isn't a fan of all the fluff. He would prefer a class style online but needs to be budget friendly. LA(The Good and The Beautiful) Unsure what we will do after son finishes level 7 Science - we did marine biology with TGTB. We plan to go another route with science units. We are thinking of trying out the campfire curriculum. However, if you have recommendations please let me know. History and Geography- I bought many units from Gather Around during their sale. So far we have finished U.S. History 1, Government, and Africa. We still have Unsolved Mysteries, Thanksgiving, Christmas Around the World, National Parks, and Loving off the land units to do. Bible and Music I have found free resources and just using them :) We are also watching The Chosen with the two older children. Would love to see more recommendations on family bibke studies. Art is throughout many of the curricula listed above. PE, my kids play sports Things I would like to add in as well are ASL and Spanish. Also, I would love to know when you get over the feeling of not doing enough. As well as how to overcome not comparing homeschools. I see so many local ladies post all the things they are doing with their unit studies. Unfortunately, my budget is way smaller, so I catch myself feeling like my kids aren't getting as fun of a homeschool experience because I can't afford many multiple crafts, board games, and all the things that could make the units more exciting. Anyways, thanks from a newbie who is trying my best but worried I'm doing it all wrong 😅.

That is super cool that you are helping two families homeschool their kids! That grammar pack looks amazing. I noticed it says "3rd grade" but I feel like it could work with older kids (and I know the boys you are homeschooling aren't third grade!). I feel like grammar is grammar no matter what grade you are in. Honestly, I find it hard to teach grammar (not because I don't know it but because it's been hard to find a good grammar curriculum that my kids like). We are using Fix It Grammar now and it is great, so I guess I shouldn't complain. :) I've use masterbooks LA to introduce grammar to my older kids and have planned to do the same for my two little ones until I move them into Fix It around middle school, but this packet is intruging and I am saving this video incase I want to go this route with them for grammar instead of Masterbooks.

My daughter is in 7th grade, and she sounds a lot like your son. she is a slow starter in the morning and likes to choose the order of her subjects -aside from starting with Bible and morning basket. I do worry, and would like your insight as a parent- will our kiddos find holding down a job difficult one day because we are allowing them so much leeway as students?? What are your thoughts? I'm pretty sure my daughter is not college bound- unless she takes business classes toward entrepreneurial ends. I struggle with worry in this regard. I was public schooled, as was my husband. I too taught public school for 13 years (elementary grades) before staying home. Thank you for any insight!

I really don’t think he is going to have trouble getting to a job one day. He always does well setting an alarm if we have somewhere we need to be (co-op, meet-ups with friends, etc. ) I totally get your concern. @@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife I'm glad you aren't worried - worry is one of my specialties 😅 yes, I think if she were motivated, she would follow a schedule. I think I'm just concerned bc homeschooling is so very different from the way we teach/learn in public and private school. But that is also a very good thing at times, too. Maybe instead of worrying I should watch for evidence that she is able to meet deadlines in a timely way like you have observed in your son. Thank you for the insight 🙂
