The progression: I9 - V/iii(#5) - iii11(no3) - ii7 - V7 Cmaj9 - B7(#5) - em11 - dm7 - G7 Notes: -The second chord is called a secondary dominant. The #5 is called a tension note. It means that you are raising the fifth of the chord a semitone. -It is VERY common to remove the 3rd in eleventh chords, giving them a softer quality.

It took me a hour to understand your music theory behind this. Didn't make any sense. How is that a G minor chord when the notes are G, bFlat, C, F

You are doing a "Quick 2-5-1" at the end to come back to CMaj9 (also called a turnaround), but your main progression is a 6-5-1 in E minor (your 3rd chord, which is the actual key), which is probably "the" most common progression in modern R&B ;) Cheers !

Okay I dont know if im gonna sound dumb but you said 2-5-1 and in this case 2 is D but you started with C which is 1. Can anyone explain me the logic behind that?
@vandzz4882Ай бұрын
In a 2-5-1, all this means is that in the melody, it will go from the 2, to the 5, to the 1, at some part of the progression. In this case, he starts with the 1, but the last two chords are the 2 and the 5, so when the progression is ending, it plays the 2, then the 5, then go back to the beginning which is the 1. Hope this helps
