In 1993, Hip-Hop and Dance music has taken over the Soul Train Awards. That's why the audience did not seem excited by Chaka's performance.

Ms. Dionne Warwick sure has the best formula for saaaaannging and interpreting a song. Her phrasing, range, texture, breath control, timing, and styling are truly impeccable❤❤. Just phenomenal vocal ability❤

I am not one of those ppl that feels that simply because someone is a great singer that everything that person sings will be great. And with that, I was prepared to NOT like this version, based upon the typical type of voice that sings this song. However, Ms. Franklin gave this song a very different feeling and meaning that only comes with her voice of seasoned resonance. Well done!

She wasn't suppose to do it like Ella, as it says in the song " your interpretation, your inter-pra-tar " and that's what Regina did. And she gets wild applause. She did splendidly!

I hope that every American citizen remembers Martin Luther King's speech "I have a dream". Many important moments in history so important and valuable for mankind are often forgotten after years gone by. But I will never forget the great man, who sacrified his life for speaking out the truth. Like Aretha never would have.

Happy to return to this video. I remember recording this performance on my VCR when it aired back in the day. I watched it each and every day! I wore that VHS tape out chiLe!!! I sang each and every note, spoke each Line of their dialogues and mimicked their every gesture. Listening to this today, I know this entire performance from and by heart. These women, their voices, their cLass, their eLegance, their styLe, their grace pLanted seeds in me decades ago and I stiLL eat weLL and am nourished by their fruit, in me. I have onLy LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for them and this concert. They were a part of what shaped and formed me. They are beautyFULL!!! Hair, skin, make-up, dresses, shoes, stage presence....just FLAWLESS!!!
