They are both large members of the dolphin family, but false killer whales can be distinguished by the longer, more streamlined head and body, shorter pectoral fins closer to the body, less stocky musculature and more triangular dorsal fin, further back on the body with a narrower base. You are correct. False killer whales (Pseudorca crassidens) y are a part of the dolphin family, just like orca. One of the biggest differences is their larger size, darker colour, rounder shape of their head and their unmistakable lack of beak.
