The Visitor uniforms and their ships SCREAM 1980s but I still find them good. And I'm old enough to have seen it when it was broadcast in the UK at the time and thought it was cool, so I don't know what you mean about "Korean knock-off toys".

But you right "Independence Day " and "V" .But just stick the original "V" mini series , and "The Final Battle " .And you should read the book from "V" .if could find along side , DC comics "V" where Donavan looks like a gunfighter in it ,and leas a Resistance Hero .well like Donavan was badass our side .

You kinda missed out the eighties right , cause "V'' was about something else .and was great NBC back in they day .But it's dated ,and the story is not old at all , and would been they rebooted "V" from the eighties .like there is lot of eighties cheesiness here , I mean you point here .But its good you finally seen for a kid your age , But maybe you should read the book on "V'' ,which was adoption the show into a book .And DC made into a comic book too ,which came when the tv show came on .And "V" came on before "Miami Vice " , it kinda this thing before TGIF Fridays on ABC .

The first Mini Series was excellent. Final Battle wasn't great, and the TV Series set after the Final Battle is best to be avoided at all costs. Never watched the remake. Final Battle suffered when Kenneth Johnson was dumped after the initial mini series.

I have picked up the original series and the Final Battle on DVD. I plan to pick up the tv series soon. I also tried the reboot. I did not finish it and will not be buying it.

The original ending bookends the film nicely. Keeps it all at sea. The new ending it’s like starting a whole new movie. Nuclear paranoia was waning in the last 80’s or at least it wasn’t such a novel idea that we were going to destroy ourselves that Cameron had to hit us over the head with it. That being said, I thought the original ending was kind of lame. The same movie probably could have been made without aliens.

Great video, it's convinced me I should add V to my watch list! I've known about the original V for a long time, but didn't realize it would still be relevant in how it depicts the various forms of resistance. Some of the details mentioned in this video surprised me!

I dont think its better. But it is still good. I may be a bit biased though just because of what happend to Timothy hutton and cant stand new things but its honestly not bad. I agree that once Nate started drinking again his character went downhill a bit. I do love how since hardison was gone they had eliot still get texts and fight with him over messages and through breanna his sister. Im not the fondest of harry as i still dont understand what his job even is, but hes alright

I know nothing of the book, but imo agent47 is better than hitman(2007). It also reminded me of Terminator1 in parts. We all like different styles, this is only my preference. Neither is awesome tho, but both ok to watch. No movie ever lives up to any book version. Why? ...coz u personally create the visuals in your own head , which is different to everyone elses visualizing. Its personal, so no movie will ever come close to your personal creative imagination, which reflects your own choices.

I think it is just as good as the original! I totally agree that Nate was definitely the weakest link on the old show and I LOVE Harry so so much. It's still such a silly, fun show about taking down the rich and my absolute favorite.

The alternate ending is the theatrical ending, actually. 😂 The original ending ALWAYS was intended to happen, and ILM was working on it but they weren't unable to finish it on time.

Would The Abyss Director's Cut work as a film released in 2024? No. Back in '89, we were still embroiled in the Cold War, only 27 years separated from the Cuban Missile Crisis. The specter of MAD was still a thing. ANYTHING besides worldwide nuclear holocaust was "palatable" from a storytelling perspective; yes, even 5-mile tall tsunamis. THAT was the intended message. "If u insist on irradiating this world with your weapons, u have no place on this world"

There's something genuine and special about the original cut that I love. I can appreciate the effort to clean things up in the rerelease, but changing the ending ruins the whole movie for me. I can imagine it's hard to show restraint when you have all the tools necessary to make the movie you intended, but sometimes its best to leave those shots on the cutting room floor. George Lucas was the worst with all of his Star Wars editions and reedits.

Appreciate your analysis. Something to bear in mind; it's a definitively feminist film way ahead of its time, especially considering that the director is not a woman. When you consider it through the lens of myth, that Mabel is a human being who is also a larger than life illustration of the divine feminine in a world of patriarchal violence and control (her mental illness as a metaphor, Swan Lake, and the opera music in many scenes, including when she admires the man singing opera amongst all the other men at her table), it’s deeply profound beyond the story of this family. It's a beautiful masterpiece.

I disagree with this guy's opinion that The Exorcist is a better film than Sorcerer. His comments made about the music score fail to mention Keith Jarrett's pipe organ music taken from his album "Hymns Spheres" and used throughout the film. If you're going to review a film, get all the facts correct. I should do my own review of Sorcerer and Fiendkin's brilliant use of music in his films.

I'm 68 years old and have seen a ton of movies in those years. "Sorcerer" is in my top three all-time. Tension beyond belief, an incredible work of art. I even won the soundtrack album in a radio contest all those years ago. Perfect score by Tangerine Dream.

I'm your age and I agree with you about it being one of the greatest films ever. I might add that Tangerine Dream didn't do the entire score. Keith Jarrett's pipe organ music taken from his album "Hymns Spheres" was used throughout the film.

A movie that deserves way more credit. I think this is another example of why the 1970s was the best decade for movies. That decade had so many great movies and some are forgotten. Jaws is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time, but this met be Roy's best performance.

lol that’s funny because the special edition ending was always the plan but Cameron didn’t like how the waves looked and they were out of time and money to fix it so he just completely cut it and then cut everything in the movie that talks about that ending. Later on when the movie got released on DVD the wave scene was touched up and we got the special edition.
@chrisfratz
@chrisfratz 5 ай бұрын
Actually, the special edition was released 3 years after the original cut in 1992. With ILM using CGI for the waves, instead of the practical effect Cameron didn't like.

Jon Hamm is a good actor but it's a shame he didn't get to explore the character of Fletcher nearly as much as Chevy Chase did in the first two outings. I mean not one attempt to don a funny costume, a phony moustache, a set of novelty teeth, or take on a bizarre persona. A good casting choice for Fletcher would've been stand-up comedian Dane Cook. Not only is he a spitting image of a young Chevy Chase, but he also has good comedic timing and an excellent sense of dry, sarcastic humour.
