Thank you for your video. Could you answer my question? Are we allowed to perform RNAV1 arrival if we have GPS PRIMARY LOST and GNSS required on approach chart but accuracy is still HIGH? Thank you
@airbuswhatsitdoingnow32028 күн бұрын
Hi Sorry for the delay. RNP1 is usually terminal arrivals and some Nat Tracks. I am going to have to ask you to refer to your company manuals here as integrity monitoring and contingency procedures are likely the protection of your company. The detail will be wether the company permits Nav Acc High or GPS Primary and whether the chart requires it i would suggest. I hope that helps. AWIDN

Well explained sir, the Auto Flight chapter explaining navigation is one of the harder one to understand.
@leonidasg0039Ай бұрын
Hey very clear explanation! I know I am complicating things with this question but I need to get the full picture: Since flying an RNP with SBAS isn't listed as a different approach on the MCDU, then once you select it, you said you can deselect SLS from the rad nav page to fly non-SBAS with FLS. What if aircraft is fitted with both FLS and FINAL APP, and I want to fly using FINAL APP? How can I deselect both SLS AND FLS?
@airbuswhatsitdoingnow320Ай бұрын
Thank you for the question. I think Honeywell and Thales probably have the same operating system but on the new aircraft FLS may be the standard approach you will need to select final app and I believe Line select one right I hope that answers your question.

Great channel! Really enjoy the videos’s. Maybe worth updating to include a note about Pitch attitude limitation in alternate law (PALAL) for newer airbus models. I think this is a new feature of the airbus which I don’t think was available when you first posted this video! Around 9 mins you mention no pitch protection so could be added here. Once again thanks so much for all the videos they’ve been a great help!

Great video as always! I usually advise de cabin crew that the cabin will be shedded (on ground) for a period after the first engine start, once there will only be one AC source (GEN 1 or 2). It makes a difference for them because ovens and other cabin features may be lost during this procedure, safety video briefing for example may not be available because cabin is shed. I also try to anticipate the reading of the supplementary engine procedure which are usually long.

Thanks for the video! when hes cleared for appr. from 4000 to 3000 he just OP DES'd and armed appr. Can we use DES mode or V/S around1000 and arm appr insead? then when loc* we can appy G/S above procedure yes?
@airbuswhatsitdoingnow3206 ай бұрын
Take care to follow SOP but I’d consider it acceptable to use VS. The crew in the report required OPDES to improve descent performance. The risk here of course as mentioned in the Airbus Win Video is high rates of descent. Thanks for the question
@petermcelwain25986 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video! I understand you may not be able to directly comment on this question due to liability etc.. but if you can I'd be happy to hear your two cents on the matter. Is it acceptable to use speed-brakes when in VS mode, as long as the speed target is managed thrust is at idle. For example, you set VS-2000, flaps 2 and gear is down, LOC engaged and your already applying the GS from above. Can we add a bit of speed break to lower the speed a bit more to help with stabilization criteria? Other times when high on profile, I select flaps two, manage speed (approach phase activated) select vs-1500, and then stop any speed increase with a bit of speed brake. No thrust is added on because the speed is well above the next speed target at this point. I find this method to be a lot more controlled than open descent for example, you control your rate, and you have a reliable descent arrow. Cheers
@airbuswhatsitdoingnow3206 ай бұрын
I’d say if gear down Fl 2 weren’t enough then speed break could be considered an acceptable means of controlling the energy. I’m not convinced of its effectiveness at low speeds and how the AFS manages the change in CP but I can’t see why else not. The key thing to have in mind is if it’s all stacking up against you and you e thrown the kitchen sink. At it, it might be best to let go of it earlier whilst you both have better capacity. Thank you for the question

@airbuswhatsitdoingnow3207 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the question. When we set a reference on the Prog page we can compare the bearing and distance to what we see on the ND (VOR in the Rad Nav page. Here we can cross check where the aircraft thinks it is to raw data. I hope that helps

@@airbuswhatsitdoingnow320 many thanks for your reply. What I don't understand is : when you compare the needle of progress page value inserted in our example GKA with radio nav page if they match it means GPS is not jammed, if not matched what does it means?
