Thanks mate glad you enjoyed the video. In this video we are obviously all running different brand gear. I'm running Abu Garcia reels. The Revo SX and I'm using it on the Veritas rod. It's a great setup for small water fish and entry level as well. 50lb braid (not that it's needed for these fish but we run 50lb for all our river cod), and a 40lb leader. I'll check what dan was using for you. He like to use Shimano Raiders, good cheap rod any any baitcaster reel. You don't need super expensive stuff to do this small water fishing. Hope that helps mate and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The old way of thinking by not sharing and helping others is a scarcity mindset and something we don't believe in. The Ovens River is a well known and super healthy fishery. It gets fished a lot through summer as it's such a beautiful place to fish and it will continue to get fished and the river will be in just as good a shape. People also guide on the river and there is plenty of content out there on this spot. Fishing should be for everyone to enjoy and if we can help people find a spot to fish we might be helping a young kid get into fishing and start a long time passion, create a bonding between a family, possibly help someone who is struggling with mental health, or just help keen anglers have a great day on the water. I respect your opinion though and there is nothing wrong with not wanting to share or help, but there is also nothing wrong with wanting to share and help others. Thanks for the comment, I think it's a conversation we need to have more often. Cheers Rhys

@@socialfishing_au Well said, some people think they own these spots

The locals love the visitors coming in mate. It's good for local businesses. Most of these people make a living off tourism so I think the more people that go there the better it is. Cheers.
@Ozzierob11 ай бұрын
@@socialfishing_auyou know why you have that mindset it’s because it’s not in your backyard Rhys. Why don’t you do more footage of your spots in your backyard and name it ?. Exactly you barely do it because you’re not exploiting your zones for $. I’m all for fishing footage etc but why need to name the area you are at ? You know for a fact there’s been plenty of places you have given good spots too and then you put them up here which have upset the locals. It’s nothing new to you. Just spoon feed them the gps of each log. Why do you think there’s so many dead cod around the area ?. Scoping and people need to for fill their social status with media.

@@Ozzierob Thanks for sharing your thoughts again, I appreciate the open conversation. As mentioned it's okay for everyone to have different opinions. We do and have created a lot of content in our backyard, a lot more than places we fish on the road. If you follow all our channels (emails, podcast, socials) you'll see a lot of content from Blowering, Burrinjuck, the Murrumbidgee, Tumut River etc. These are all local and I'm more than happy to help others come and fish these waterways. I've helped many people plan trips along the Murrumbidgee River. Thanks again for commenting but remember we can all have different opinions. Luckily for the young anglers out there getting into it, we are making a change and trying to help them, show them how to fish and also educate them on proper practices (looking after fish, respecting the environment etc). We will keep doing what we are doing. Cheers Rhys

Funny thing about the 2 minute window is I was just watching Silvesters fresh water fishing and he caught a massive cod over a meter I think at 9:30am and then his second day out he caught another one over a meter at 9:30am and he said “there must be something about 9:30am”. Just found this channel, loved the content, so much to think about and analyse. Time to go out myself tonight and start a data set. Thanks for the wisdom and ideas.

Onto something boys. 4 days before the full to 1 day before epic on Barra. Never on the full or new moon. And waxing always better than waning. I've learnt not to bother at all from 3days after the full until it comes back around to 4 days before the full. if it's a rising or high barometer even better. And yes, first and last light are good especially if it coincided with the moonset . Fresh bait helps caught same day every time. You lure blokes cover way more ground, so your odds are a lot higher of catching fish. predatory fish like Barra and big cod , Mulloway definitely bite more moon below.
