Seems a great idea in concept, but the printer is selling for £849 in the UK, plus £69.99 for a 5m fabric roll. Also it is recommended that if the project you are making is going to rub against something else (e.g carrying a tote bag against a piece of clothing), that you use their laminate sheet (£29.99) to prevent the ink from rubbing off. I was thinking off using it for making custom cushions, but why would I want laminated cushions. I definitely won't be buying one!

True or false, does my new brother printer automatically disable the toner cartridges prior to them physically running out of toner? This whole subscription model is making me uneasy. My old brother printer was cost-effective for over a decade because I could easily use 3rd party cartridges. I hope my new Brother HL-L3280CDW can use 3rd party cartridges but please let me know if not?

Love the QL printers and have used them in the office and at home for years, but the software is awful. I reached out to Brother in the UK recently after the update to v5.4 of the P-Touch software failed, but it reset something on the app and the icons are now tiny and virtually unusable on a touchscreen - They measured about 3mm square on my 13" Surface laptop, which admittedly is hi-res but has the screen res set to 175%. Not bothered about the software update ( I have since installed it successfully), but the interface is now well over a decade old and was devised long before touchscreen PCs and HD+ resolutions. Support couldn't offer any solution via chat so I left a review. Brother did respond - I had to search for the reply as the link they sent me took me straight to a sales page. Their response was as follows: "P-touch editor relates to OS screen resolution. This printer (QL-710w) doesn't support our new look P-touch editor software." So why did I have better, larger icons prior to trying to install the update? Chat's only suggestion was to increase the scaling on the PC but then that increases the size of everything else, which isn't what I want as I then lose screen real estate and have to scroll around more. The other point is that this is the latest video I can find from Brother and it still shows the old layout, so I've no idea what the new-look software looks like, if it exists at all. Every image and video I can find shows the same software that I'm using, although if this mysterious new look software does exist and doesn't support the QL-710w it's a moot point anyway. So thanks for that. We have 4 printers so are we supposed to ditch them all because the updated software isn't backward compatible? Sad that such a great product is let down by such poor and apathetic support.

Note even a year and it broke. after running around to find anyone that can repair it. I was told that to clean up the ink on the printer head that was spilled and replace the printer head it will cost more than the printer itself. waste of money. never buying brother printers again.

Trying to make a skirt as my first sewing project and I think this could help. Mostly I didn't know how to make an elastic waistband (I thought you maybe needed a special tool or something?) but it turns out it literally is as easy as just pinning the fabric a bit bunched and stretching it as you sew. I assume this tutorial also works for longer skirts. I'll probably use this as a reference just to get an idea of how to design homemade skirts
