Saw a clip with Alger...he said he won his matches with his 6am runs and when he went into the gym at 10 at night to lift by himself...I believe Gable said if he had 10 Royce Algers they would never lose a match...

Trivial point but Penrith was from Windsor, NY. Windsor is farm country about 15 miles outside of the city of Binghamton. Windsor held one of the premier Christmas wrestling tournaments in NY in Penrith’s days. My HS wrestling coach, John Allen, was a Windsor grad. He coached me at Seton Catholic Central HS in Binghamton. John also wrestled for Syracuse when the had a program.

I was at U of Iowa when Royce wrestled there and this man maintained his heartbeat over 200 bpm for 20 straight minutes. I'm not sure if anyone has even come close to equalling this? - WC

Terry Brands is maybe the most passionate man in the sport of wrestling. plain spoken with his heart on his sleeve, it doesn't matter what team you support, you have to love his honesty and passion. PS. Lee Fullhart has always been a beast and a tough sob.

Royce "Freaking" Alger. Although I was never on his level, he was always the baddest guy on my block. Well deserved. Congratulations.

I met Lee in 2012 or 2011 at a tryout for the Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue team. We had to carry a human sized dummy everywhere we went. I estimated it to weight around 220 lbs at least as it took 6 of us to carry it and it was still heavy. I was on the dummy with Lee and 4 other guys and we were having a hell of a time with it. We were all discombobulated and Lee yells, "everybody just put him down." I never wrestled but I knew who Lee was, all theses other guys had no idea who he was. We dropped the dummy and Lee proceeded to pick the dummy up from the ground on his own and carry it cradled in his arms. It was the most impressive feat of strength I have ever seen. Mind you we were all severely underfed, dehydrated, and exhausted from constant PT and swimming. I remember I told Lee that was pretty god damn impressive but the idea was for us to carry it as a team. He agreed, so we got back on "Randy" as he was called and managed to get him where he needed to go. By the way Lee passed the course.
