Can you clarify the specs for ‘drywall channel!? I’m a little ignorant but it seems like there’s a difference between RC2 vs metal furring channel and now I’m nit sure which I need.
@KineticsNoiseControl

While many in the industry call it “hat channel”, it is more properly called “drywall furring channel”. It is carried by local drywall supply stores and even some big box home improvement centers. You do not want to use products known as “resilient channel” or “RC2” as they will not fit in the IsoMax. Please see our online installation details for more information. kineticsnoise.com/isomax

Thanks, it looks like I really need to look out for the “hemmed edges“ to meet the 25 gauge specification. I am doing DIY home studio, I bought lots of iso Max clips from you as well as wave hangers. Now I’m a little stuck on what to do at my window. I know I don’t want New window casing touching the layer of drywall that I’m putting on the isomax/channel. I don’t see any details on your website, nor in Rod Gervais’s home, studio book…

I’m sorry this video doesn’t have more engagement. It’s a great product That said … I feel like the language used in this video is slightly misleading. For one … the coefficient does not necessarily represent a percentage. The coefficient should more aptly be referred to as a constant. And an “absorption coefficient” of 1 (under the common understanding of the term) does not necessarily mean it absorbs 100% of the energy It has been shown across multiple objective tests that an absorption coefficient of 1 or above 1 will attenuate that particular frequency by a maximum of 10 dB. Which is obviously relative to the calibrated testing levels. It does not by virtue of a definition absorb 100% of the energy. Ron Sauro of NWAA Labs has had plenty to say on this topic and he runs the largest and most accurate testing facility in North America, relative to spectrum. (The room supports a Confirmed cycle of 25 hz) I’d check out come of his papers! Anyways… not trying to shade you guys. This type of product is highly effective in many scenarios and I’d definitely recommend it

Looking for help to determine whether this will work well on my second story, timber house. Not a professional, recording studio, put more of a home studio. I hope to keep the noise minimized as much as possible when the band plays.

Great video! Whats the reason for the Louvers facing downwards with the air hitting the perforated face on the bottom first?
@johnsofra9111
@johnsofra9111 Жыл бұрын
Great question. Reason 1: Often the louvers are installed in building walls. The downward slope helps keep rain and debris out. Reason 2: As noise hits the inside of the louver from the sound source side, it is best to hit the perforated material first to allow for sound energy to be absorbed in the acoustic media. Then the solid outer face, sloping down offers excellent sound blocking. Hope that helps. Thanks.

@@johnsofra9111 Thanks for the quick reply! That's helped my understanding a lot, currently trying to design and retrofit some louvers for the front of 8 AHUs in an Air conditioning test chamber, with high Air Volume requirements.

Roberto, thank you for your interest. Though no testing was conducted on this specific job, we have a LOT of IIC testing with MetaWrx on both a 6" concrete slab, as well as composite concrete/steel deck testing. STC and IIC both. Would you like to provide me your email and I can send you over everything we have for your review?

This is very interesting. Could you please explain why you decided to show the IIC and HIIC results but not those for low frequency impacts? Wouldn't the dropping of weights be better represented by the LIIC rating?
@chriswilliams6741
@chriswilliams6741 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Henning. That will be the focus of our next round of testing. We did execute 100lb weight drops from a specified height in the lab of an unisolated versus isolated floor system and measured the difference in sound pressure levels, about a 6dB difference at 63Hz and from about 125Hz to 8KHz ranges from about 14-18dB SPL. We conducted addditional testing with a variety of weights and can share that with you. While we're on the topic, yes, there is the LIIC. What is your opinion of capturing 20Hz - 80Hz with a tapping machine versus a standardized medicine ball weight drop test. We're inclined to head the route of the medicine ball, as the physics of a small tapping machine hammer to generate the lows we aim to accurately capture seem, versus ball drops to simulate the low thudding of footsteps, we're debating but intend to pull the trigger on low frequency testing sooner than later. Interested in your thoughts. Shoot me an email and we can dialogue.

One of the last graphics in the presentation showing the higher capacity mount indicates the height of the mount at 4.5", but the cutsheet that was also shown indicated 5.5". Which one is correct?
@KineticsNoiseControl
@KineticsNoiseControl 3 жыл бұрын
Hi David! Thanks for commenting. The operating height is 4.5” or 5.5” to the flat portion of the bearing angle, depending on the “a” or “c” size. Both are correct depending on the coil. Hope this helps!
