Ms. ESSENCE YOU ARE DEFINITELY RIGHT, I was talking with another educator ( in the microloc world) and she asked me what type of educational classes had I taken, I ran it down for her ( your class being 1 out of like 6, I LOVE TO LEARN 🤷🏿♀️) she said girl IF YOU DONT RAISE YOUR PRICES YOU'RE WELL EDUCATED IN THIS FIELD & YOU HAVE A HAIR LICENSE, can i just say ive been struggling with this for 3 yrs 🤦🏿♀️. I have Nooo idea why this was recommended to me. But this touched me than you know. I was almost in tears from the encouragement. I really do have so many gifts but I don’t proclaim any of them confidently because of fear and judgement. I do hair, and all my friends ask me why I don’t do this full time. And I just tell them no way. I even go as far as to tell them if someone asks them who did their hair I tell them DO NOT give out my number!!! Because I’ve been sooo scared to step out!!! It’s been over 10 years!!! It’s time to slowly come out. This was what I needed to hear. God Bless you all and you continue to walk in your purpose!

Hello, I'm a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in locs and natural hair for 15 yrs. I actually transitioned into locs only 3 years ago. But I want to incorporate natural hair styling back on my schedule again. I would love to come down for 1 week to learn hands on techniques that I need to touch up on or learn. Like adding hair, parting, braid/twisting techniques. Does your school offer programs like that?

I enjoyed this convo all the way to it's completion. I've experienced just about all the do's and don'ts you touched on. Healing ourselves, and making sure our cups are full before we water others goes such a long way in this industry. These conversations are necessary to those getting in position for this work for the long haul and definitely for those like myself who have our hand in it and want to pour back into it.
