Ян Железни or Jan Zelezny is pronounced Yan Jelezni. Jelezni means: made from iron. It's coincidental, but it fits perfectly!

The records still stands. It is easy to speculate on what will be. This is a very difficult record to top. Zelezny’s consistency and perfection in all of the details is not at all easy to duplicate. So far the throwers chasing him have had their high moments, but not that continuous consistency.

The classic Eastern Europe type, huh... Perhaps if the Belgians had less arrogance and silver spoon up their butt, they would talk to the actual man and show how HE trains instead of all the other never-beens thoughout this series.

He will be remembered for hundreds if not thousands of years. I wonder if I will be alive to see his record broken. 🤔 I would never in my life be able to dedicate myself so brilliantly, fully and perfectly to a achieve one single shooting star of perfection!

The 🐐..and the most elegant javelin throwing technique I have ever seen. Not to forget a bloody quick arm.

Most people have no idea what goes into javelin throwing at elite level. I threw at club level and to launch a javelin even 60m is a lot of training and drills. 3 gym sessions per week, 3 sprint sessions, mobility sessions daily, plyometric sessions, throwing sessions. It was full on...and all to throw a spear as far as possible.

When Jan threw it was a complete package. His run up was like watching a jet fighter accelerate down a runway and then the smooth yet aggressive throwing technique was perfect. Add to that the throwing arm was further back and and round and brought through like a whip and all aligned into a straight line thus sending the javelin out with tremendous velocity. Jan threw with his whole body from a base of leg speed.

Imagine how much that incident scared and freaked him out, if that athlete had died, I TRULY believe he would've retired from javelin throwing.

Only other person that can throw at that speed is MLB pitcher Aroldis Chapman who has the Fastest pitch in MLB history - 105.1 miles per hour (169.1 km/h). Both of which have achieved god like athleticism.

A thrower must have both speed and brute strength. Both are very important. Powerful as fire but fast as a lightning.

Thank you to have shared this. The best documentary on javelin by far. It is quite funny that the unofficial wr for matchsticks is by Uwe Hohn the wr holder of old spec javelin.
