I loved this show as a kid. My mom watched this all the time.

We remember the gaiety of John Inman when others are oppressive towards us for being queer. Their names even cheer us up. Mr. Hump-frees suggests liberation by some sort of humping or another and Hum-phrees suggests another sort of humping but nearer the vocal chords.😂 Then, there is also the name of John which arouses association with the colloquial phrase of 'John Thomas' and, while we don't know their middle name, John T. Inman would work out to be an amusing coincidence if you invest belief in coincidence. Sometimes we think: wouldn't it have been fabulous if John could have been 'out' everywhere, in all of their walks but maybe they played the part of an Inman so we could be the Outman.🎉 Maybe they knew their being in over there would cause us to be out over here.

Are you free, Queen?😁Mr. Humphries was a riot on Are You Being Served. Although I was born in 1955, I didn't learn about Are You Being Served until in the 90's. Unfortunately, all the cast members have gone on to glory.😭 RIP cast members from Are You Being Served.

My favourite character! My father always muttered something about Inman laughing all the way to the bank when Mr Humphries appeared, but I loved him & his interactions with the other characters. A bright spot jn the 1970s, he was a breath of fresh air!

The old britcoms were the absolute best. I still watch "Keeping up Appearances " whenever I catch it on PBS although I've seen every episode multiple times. Remember "Faulty Towers"? That show would have me doubled over with laughter.

People who grew up with this stuff are now running around crying about woke and gays being alive. The tv of the 70's was unbelievably woke, much moreso than today. Shows like MASH and all in the family literally had straight up lectures about sexual orientation, racial equality.

Mr. Humphries was always my absolute favorite on the show! I liked Mrs.Slocum and her ever-changing hair colors, too, but Mr. Humphries was special. He was so consistently funny and just rather adorable!

I had a friend in middle school who was just like this and totally proud about it. Another coworker acts like this as well. Im not sure if it is Flamboyant or another word but i absolutely love it. Very fun to be around.
