Thank you so much for your testimony it has really touched me. In my later teens,(now 76) I used to go to WEC Missionary Training College, I lived in walking distance. I would go to their prayer meetings on a Friday night, I well remember we would be praying for your parents and the other missionaries who were led to reach out to the Quechua Indians. That God would be with them and the shock to hear of the men’s death. But to also later on hear how the Lord used their sacrifice to bring them to Himself. I only just recently discovered your Mothers videos and it is a blessing to hear her speak, God has used her in a mighty way Praise to Him for that, I’m being challenged for the sacrifice she has gone thru and of my closer walk with the Lord. May He continue to bless you and your hubby in your service for our blessed Lord and Saviour.

This was an awesome video. It was great hearing more about Jim & Elisabeth Elliot. I just LOVE Elisabeth Elliot and her work. Her book "Me, Obey Him" helped me to be a much better wife to my husband. I'm not sure if Valerie will see this or even be told about it but she was a guest on Gateway to Joy on BBN and she exlained to her mom some sayings she lives by. This was taped many years ago. I was able to copy some but missed a few. It went something like this "I will receive what You send, I will lack what You withhold." Like I said there was more and I would love to have it all to share with the ladies in my Sunday School Class. Thank you for sharing your mother with us. LOVED the video. God bless you and yours.

Hello Valerie, tku for sharing this. How true is the quote- Like mom ,like daughter ! I am in India but I want you to know that your mom's biography on your dad ," Under the Shadow of the Almighty " which has the quote He is no fool...inspired me. It helped me in 1983 as a 19 year old bible school student to take some decisions to follow the Lord .

I happened upon this video, as I was surfing KZbin. I am so glad I clicked on it. We are a homeschool family and the curriculum we use has a history portion that includes a timeline and Jim and Elizabeth Elliot are featured on one of the cards, and as the student graduates into the middle school portion of the curriculum, we read at least one of the books by Mrs. Elizabeth Elliot, so I have personally been blessed by this beautiful story of Agape love and service to the Lord Almighty. It is such a blessing to hear Mrs. Valerie Elliot's testimony, and to have it resonate with my very own life. As a wife, I saw myself in her words about her own marriage...It just amazes me how the Lord directs our steps and we know not the real reason until we take the time to listen. What a blessing to hear her testimony. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.

I memorized the chapter but I made a few tweaks. The word quicken, which no one knows what the heck that means, is better translated as life in my opinion. So if there is a verse that says "quicken me according to your loving kindness" I would change it to life is your loving kindness. I think by doing this it unlocks verses like John 10:10 where Jesus refers to the type of life He seeks to bring to the world.
@isaiah53design

Hey Mathew, that is awesome you memorized it! I rather like it as written, which is why I wouldn’t change “quicken.” I get it sounds old, but that’s part of the gold. So much depth in those old words is hidden. :)

@bekahdorris

@@Rolando_Cueva I hear you. But using “quicken” as an example, the meaning is far more nuanced than just using the word “life.” I’ll let y’all look up why, since exegesis is beyond the scope or goal of this video. We could also say doctors shouldn’t use Latin words because it’s from Ancient Rome, but using Latin affords the experts far more precision than is available in our modern, dumbed-down vernacular English. So too using English from the time it was still precise (albeit with unfamiliar vocabulary) only enhances our understanding. That is one of many reasons I love it and lean on it. Maybe that’s why kids who read the King James Version score higher on standardized tests. Makes sense. Thanks for commenting, Rolando. I’m honored!

I remember reading the story of your parents and in '76 visiting the area where the Aucas lived. I want to say it was near Shell and Macas? (without bothering to look it up) . We crossed a big river on a taravita! I remember being a bit disappointed that the only Auca we saw had on western clothing and carried a transistor radio 🤣. I was either a very new Christian or became one later that year, but have been fascinated by your parents ' lives. Thank you for sharing yours in this video. PS At that time I was living just over the NH border from Franconia in Vt.

Thank you, Valarie. I feel like a failure. But I know God isn’t through with me. My son and his girlfriend are my mission field. They have a child together and she has two children by different men. He believes himself saved and he really is a decent man and a good father…but I see no evidence of salvation. Crystal has had such a difficult life, has been addicted to Meth and is two years clean. She loves her kids (and my son) but has admitted to me she is very cold emotionally (Her adoptive mother was a cruel woman.). There has been evidence of demonic activity following her since childhood (She shared this with me.). I want to reflect the dear Savior to them but it is also important for me to rest in Him and enjoy Him forever! I love how your mother taught you to do everything well! I still need to learn this! Sloppy me! I have Christian radio on in my home and car and have shared the”plan of salvation “ with Crystal and she certainly has read all the Chick tracts I have laying around! My dear husband has dementia…so I do get down at times. But the dear Savior, how wonderful he is! I love listening to Gateway to Joy on BBN. And I love when your mother interviews you. There was one broadcast on Gateway to Joy of a Chinese choir in San Francisco singing He Giveth More Grace. I had taped it! Wish I still had it! If anyone will pray for my situation, Remember me, Carol, my son Michael and Crystal. My husband is Johnnie.

I respected her for many things, but I agree, I don’t think she made others, besides her husbands, perhaps, very comfortable around her. She had flaws and her very strict personality. Order, is a good thing in principle, but one can take it so far that a human joy is missing. I had similar upbringing, not to that extent, and am still very uncomfortable around my parents. I have fought hard to allow Jesus to help me accept others as is, while maintaining my conviction based on Bible Truth. ❤️

They say for each of us, there are about a third of the people who love us, a third who can’t stand us, and a third who don’t care one way or another. May God give us all the grace to love those who love us and those who don’t alike. Thanks for watching and commenting, Gina. God bless you!

I was blessed by Valerie's testimony. I previously have watched some of her Mom's videos. I am so humbled by their life stories. Makes me feel inadequate in my life's testimony. I had grandiose thoughts when I first came to Christ. I've lived a basic American life in NH quietly living to try and honor the Lord but fail miserably. Lord Bless you and keep you.🙏🏻

When all is said and done, may it be said that we walked with Jesus in faith whether in a spectacular journey or a quiet one. He is the Hero in the Elliots’ story and in ours, as I’m sure Jim and Elisabeth would agree. He is the Spectacular Author and Finisher of our faith who knows how to add twists and turns to our personal stories, even allowing plots that hurt our hearts and remove ugly flaws and ultimately birth beautiful things into our lives. May He bless and keep you too!
