Excellent work!! I have 90 percent of the stuff to build one of these laying around the farm!!! Now if I can ever find the time to build it! I need one of these for the pond dams on my place!
@pa50cals7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! The only 2 things I would do different is mount it to the left side instead of right side so debris flies away from tractor and it would have been sweet to make it turn with a hydraulic motor instead of belt drive from the PTO.
@55tmilam7 ай бұрын
@@pa50cals I will keep those things in mind when I build mine! I wish I could find a hydraulic gearbox off an old piece of equipment cheap! I’m sure a new one is pricey! I have an old 4 foot bush hog that I’m thinking about using for it.

Very good job on building it cheaper that buying one from a dealer.

Good job. You gave me several ideas to build one similar to this. I’ve got an old 72” Scag turf tiger deck that came off an old mower we had that pumps and the motor through a rod. I keep everything, just for parts or making something new out of. I think on mine, I’ve got an old prince hydraulic pto pump that I’m going to run to a hydraulic motor. On the motor it has plenty of torque, but 1:1 for input speed. On the output shaft of the motor, I have an old 30” double groove cast pulley to get the speed I need and running that into a double groove 4” pulley. On the beam, I’m going to put a hydraulic cylinder inside the tube and sleeve it so it will expand out mowing around the pond. May even try to build a way to make deck tilt up and down so I can mow pond and small limbs that stick in the driveway. Using hydraulic tank as counter weight and will use a swivel guide wheel on both sides to help stabilize it
@pa50cals Жыл бұрын
Thank you and it sounds like a great plan you have. Looking back on it going with hydraulic power would have been better and I could still go that route at a later point. You are right about using a counter weight to offset the mower head.....still need to do that to mine.

That a good thing to have we have been cutting big trees for the last 3 weeks I sure could have used that I have plans of buying a new tractor next year with front bucket my old tractor doesn't have one it's a 45 hp Massey tractor that we bought when I was 15 years old now 64 wont something a little easier to use
@pa50cals Жыл бұрын
Hey Danny, good to hear from you my friend and you're right about how handy this lift is going to be. Older tractors like that Massey just keep running and running.

You can take a lot of strain off of your hitch by installing a cable or chain from the mower to the front of the tractor.
