I’ve got a 69’ cb160 that I’ve owned for the last 30 years but it’s been parked for the last 25 years. Just got it fired up again a week ago. After I set the points and timing and cleaned carbs it runs better now than I think it ever did. Not sure about the top end speed cause I haven’t driven it out on any highways yet. Good to hear it run again. Maybe I’ll strip it down and repaint it this winter. Oh by the way, cool video!

did a 'dumb & dummer' ride ( two up) from Newport to San Diego on the I-5/405 (and even made it back/round trip) circa late 70's on one of these as a teen, this vid brings it all back !!, full throttle nearly always to get over the carb flat spots..... Good times.. :)) rode that bike all over from the beaches to Lake Arrowhead ... Cool post .

Hey, saw your video over on Moto Stars. I also have a '70 TR6R in spring gold that I ride around San Diego. I'll try to take a video of mine for KZbin sometime soon. Really sorry to see your catastrophe. Did your footpeg bend that much, or do you have folding footpegs like the TR6C? Overall, the damage doesn't look so bad, new herringbone seats or seat covers are available at the Bonneville shop, unfortunately the nicer quality seats are unavailable now, but only $69.95 if you can recover it yourself. I'll give the video a like even though I really don't like what happened.
@twistyhooked3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment. Maybe we'll see each other riding around sometime! Would love to see a video if you upload it. The footpeg is folding and wasn't really damaged. Surprisingly the only damage was the snag on the seat and a cracked headlight. Handlebar rubber also I guess. Thanks for the tips about the seat! I think it's repairable. BTW, my dad was riding his TR6 in this video and followed my bad corner entry. Also his forks dive really hard under braking and I think that, along with a dirty/dusty corner, contributed to his crash. Do your forks dive hard on yours? Like they're too soft? Cheers!
@douglasfrantzen30113 жыл бұрын
@@twistyhooked Hmmm, replied earlier but don't see it now. My forks don't seem to dive. There are ways to fix that if your dad's does. I had posted a link to some progressive springs that are supposed to help, maybe that's why KZbin didn't like my comment, because of the external link, you can just do an easy search. Anyway, you can look into stiffer springs, spacers, different weight oil, making sure that the oil isn't low, etc. or maybe it just needs a rebuild. Mine seem to have a little play front to back so I'll be redoing them before too long. I did film a ride today and published it. Most is just boring but there's a walk around at the very end. No drama in it for Moto Stars or Moto Madness. Here's the video reference: rhpkmywhsok

@@twistyhooked Didn't mean to talk "behind your back", please excuse me. :). I wonder if the accelerator jets might be plugged or not spraying properly, causing a very confused adjustment. The accelerator pump output nozzles were completely clogged on a set of used Webers I purchased for my 912, and a reproduction set of those carbs had an accelerator pump nozzle drilled very off center. Putting an electric fuel pump on mine made it run a lot more consistent, too. I hope you're enjoying your classic beauty!
@twistyhooked3 жыл бұрын
@@yueibm Oh no problem, you weren't! Yes, I think it could be something to do with the jets. I don't want to put an electric fuel pump on it though! Gotta adjust it. Thank you very much. I'm for-sure enjoying the ride. :)
