Yes, I've been sober 4 years, absolutely hate it. I have not been happy sober at all. I really didn't expect to feel this way. I'm glad this was a topic because most videos I watch, people are so happy and grateful. Nope, not me.

Hey Project Recovery team! I’ve been following your podcast and absolutely love your message! 🎙 It aligns so much with what we’re doing at Crosstalk Podcasts (we’re a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on addiction recovery). 💪 We’ve had some amazing guests like Lillo Brancato, Evander Holyfield, and Ian Fidance share their journeys, and I’d love to explore how we could collaborate - maybe have you on as a guest or vice versa! 🙌 Would love to hop on a quick 15-minute call to chat more! 😊 Best, Sergio Producer of Crosstalk Podcasts

Hy we need more hippies not alcoholics who tf wants to hear their problems all day we already know the world has an issue but alcoholics make it worse when they put their hating 2 cents in it I know very few ppl that actually have a good time drinking and more ppl that have a good time smoking

Hey, no matter which mile stone i get to, I always relapse. I figured the goal is not to stay sober for ever. But not to get on consecutive exposure.

And sadly that feeling "fear" will remain because in order for a twelve step program to work everyone in it has to be honest and that can never be possible we are humans and we are incapable of being anywhere near that level of honesty on a consistant basis.

If I had $10 for every addict/alcoholic I have heard say "I don't have a problem" I could retire. The first thing you have to face is reality.

I've decided to look for help today, and make a call. I'm very functional and don't drink till I know I'm done for the day. I will not drink and drive or at work. But it's everyday. I cannot be in a treatment center and not work and was literally told to just hang up. He may have been genuine, who knows. But one day at a time. I just need someone to talk to. But I won't stop looking. And if you have a problem with drinking. DON'T STOP LOOKING.

Yeah this isn’t how it works for everyone unfortunately most of the men that attend meetings are not genuinely there to sponsor other men and only attend to gawk at women/hit on women. You’re lucky you approached someone who would actually sponsor you because I distinctly remember several men either telling me no or not being willing to meet up with me. Most AA men are imposters. Just saying. Best of luck.

What an inspirational message of Hope. Been clean 9 years. Went to AA meetings at the start of my recovery along with CA and NA. I found my home in NA and never looked back. So grateful to the AA fellowship for welcoming me and sharing their recovery with me. WDR

This is huge. This made me cry. My dad is Def an alcoholic but never thought he was. Getd wasted on the weekends, family time, holidays, and drinks wine with every meal bla bla. When I went to rehab for heroin and we had to have "family day" they sat us face to face in front of everyone. I asked him if he would stop drinking bc it was such a trigger. He said no. I don't have a problem. Got mad and walked out.

Junkies are people too. It's sad that there's such a lack of empathy and sympathy for them. I'm almost a year off of fentanyl and can't recall how many times I almost died or maybe even did die.

@@danielhicks6406false, his heart was still beating. Another junky isn’t doing cpr. She probably administered narcan and threw water on him. They always throw water on them for some reason
@dkmike2299
@dkmike2299 4 ай бұрын
@@Skrillon yeah I understand what you’re saying but I also understand why people might not have sympathy or empathy for an addict or “junkie” and I will never fault them for it. I was an addict for 10 years, have been sober a little over 4 years now and have two brothers who are also struggling with addiction. As an addict I screwed all my relationships with friends and family, I manipulated people, I stole, I used people for selfish reasons. I’m ashamed of it but also can admit I was a complete pos who deserved no sympathy from anyone especially from people who tried over and over and over going out of their way to help when they had every reason not to. Friends and families go through absolute hell and back over and over because of others addictions and are often trying harder to help us than we are ourselves. And it doesn’t even have to be someone you know, I think about the people I didn’t know that I did wrong, like an innocent family who I stole from. Why should I expect them to give me or any addict sympathy? So while I accept peoples help and am grateful when people can sympathize and be empathetic, I also never expect anyone to do so, and completely understand if they aren’t, cause I only have to take a half a second to think about the many people that i have done wrong. That said, I do thank the people who didn’t give up on me and still saw me as a person, cause they’re the reason I’m still here today and I don’t focus on the past but don’t forget it either because I learn from it.

It really depends on the person. I’ve smoked since I was younger, and I know it’s affected my short term memory drastically. I also know a few friends of mine; who’ve smoked just as long as I have, and they have ironclad memories.
