I have to comment here after having stepped away from Etsy since March this year. I’ve loved Shawna since the beginning and all her videos. I agree with having a positive mindset. But I disagree with putting the hard work in and your shop can and WILL succeed, that’s setting a wrong expectation. I was diligent for 2 years and worked 40+ Hours a week on my Etsy shop with no returns until I finally achieved over 1000 sales in my second year around Christmas, found a good customer base and felt I know what I’m doing and was enjoying the process. Unfortunately my shop was shut down with no explanation and till this day my appeals, several emails, were not answered and Etsy did not pay me my last payout of 500$. It’s been 6 months. Etsy brought out a statement that their AI may shut down shops even by mistake, but given the huge amount of shops they are willing to take that loss. You are at the mercy of Etsy and just because you put in the hard work you are not guaranteed a success. Your shop may get shut down through no fault of your own, you may not be told a reason, and being paid your earnings and that’s it. Weigh up your risk and decide if you are willing to do it anyway. That’s my advice.

Oh Shawna, I feel a little sad that you get you had to make this video and definitely that you lost sleep over it! Although I get it, been there done that bought the t shirt. I had my own coaching business for 8 years prior to covid but what you just experienced is a right of passage … just like getting your first bad review on Etsy . It comes with the territory when you’re being successful. But I bet you don’t lose sleep over bad reviews on Etsy now hey ;) Your true tribe of followers know the value you bring along with a huge chunk of authenticity! Focus on them :) You’re brilliant Shawna! Don’t let them doubt yourself for a second! Can’t wait for your next video

Is it possible to do this but with only two colors? Example: I’m trying to create a bachelorette party listing where the bride has the white shirt design then each bridesmaid has a different unique design but same light blue color…all on the same listing.

Please forgive me from asking but since when people are not allowed to have their own opinion. I did watch the whole video and the comments featured in it , and I truly didn't think anything wrong other than curiosity. Especially since youube is flooded with scammer channels, people are just fed up and just want to know the truth.The fact that you were offended by these comments that you had to make a video about it is makes me feel like I should be afraid to comment and express my curiosity. Especially being a teacher one would think you would encourage curiosity. I am sorry but I just had to ask.

Amazing video as usual Shawna! Your videos have always helped me out so much and thanks to you I have thousands of sales now with consistent sales every day. I doubt your shop is affected, but I've heard a lot of smaller shops be affected by the latest Etsy update. For me, I've noticed that for some reason my sales have gone down 50% due to the fact that I will get my first half of sales in the morning (as usual), then the second chunk that usually comes after 5pm I get 0, which I find extremely odd. My christmas listings aren't popping at all but I still find it weird that I only get sales in the morning then it's completely dead in the afternoon. Not sure if you have any information on this or can do a vid on it. Thanks for everything I wish you the absolute best with yourself and your business!

Thank you so much for this detailed lesson on group listings. I have a collection with about 40 looks and will have probably 4 colors in 6 sizes, so I appreciate this video so much. I question why you don't also publish each shirt to etsy and have a reinforcing listing? And you completely lost my with syncing ... i have no clue, Ive never heard of it but I think it is easier to just sync everything from the start if possible instead of reviewing and manually syncing but I'm so confused on it - I just don't know. Thank you. I also watch Cassiy and I recognized you from your videos with her - thank you for sharing your story

Love your videos. Somehow I started a shop a month ago and have already sold 30! To be honest, it's my 3rd shop and I think practice makes perfect! I'm stoked about December. I'm averaging 1-3 sales a day now :)

Hi Shawna - did you put out a video where you go over what you include in your membership group? I might have missed it. I've been debating whether to join or not - but wasn't sure if it was primarily geared towards people new to Etsy. I'm finishing up my 2nd year - and I have learned a ton from you and I'm sure I could learn more - but with running 2 shops - my profits from Etsy shop, a lot are going into advertising for my google shop - so I'm making less money this year than last year - so money is tight. Anyway - just wanted to get a better idea of what additional tools I might be able to learn in that membership?

So true! Thanks for the great advice. I’m in my 1st year and lots of errors, time-wasting and personal struggles. But all the lessons have to be learned by oneself. The most important lesson is to set the right mindset and make it sustainable, not only for this business, but also for the health (mental and physical) and relationships. We have to be patient and be kind to ourselves .

How can we found what search phrases customers used to come up to our listings? And one more question- is it possible to offer shipping upgrade as separate etsy listing or as drop down option in listin menu if we use printify? How does this option works step by step? Thank you❤

Hi Shawna! I have a terrible problem with my store. I have a mess with the prices. I don't know how to calculate de prices with the printify fees, etsy fees and the 40% that i have in my store. I need to change the Prices but I don't know how to do it with products with different sizes like t-shirts, mugs, pillows, etc. Do you know how to do that? Please help!!! 😪

I too thought your traffic came from your KZbin. But I followed some advice and watched your shop and decided to make a few of my own. Those little dot fonts that you make are actually not easy! Ha ha. So I ditched it and made my own versions of Christmas checkered themes. And they actually started selling. I was shocked. But the biggest thing was the research. For the first time, I actually did the research first. and decided what I was gonna make before. I actually just made something and then tried to find keywords for it. I don't have procreate and have wondered how you made your fonts and displayed them so seamlessly. But the journey led me to tons of research and lots of learning and lots of KZbin videos on designing and understanding the current programs I have better, (affinity, designer, inscape, and photoshop expression) and of course Canva. Your video kicked it off. Now I'm not retiring or anything, but $150 extra before Christmas is welcomed. Now I will just keep building and learning.

Hi Shawna! Thank you for your videos!!! You mentioned at the beginning of your Etsy journey you may only want to spend $2-5 a day on 20ish listings. You also mentioned at the end of the video you put listings on ads for upcoming holidays. I just bought your teacher niche resource and am working on 100 days of school and Valentine’s Day and am listing several designs a day (more than 20 a week…don’t worry, they are backed by research per your design and SEO videos). What strategy would you use for ads on new listings at the beginning of your journey, if any? Currently I have ads on for 5 listings that are not in the teacher niche but do sell. But my goal now is to break into the teacher niche. Thank you!!! -Brittney

I just opening my shop a couple of weeks ago and you are one of the reasons I did. Always motivational. I absolutely love that you talk about, so often, the hard work it takes and that the first year isn't easy. Many make it sound like it's a breeze and that can be discouraging when you are new. That's why I watch your videos (and am waiting to hear about your membership opening again)...you and one other youtuber talk real. I'm 5 months in 104 sales and keeping on...list list list! Girl don't even waste your time focusing on the people who are convinced they can't win because they aren't willing to try. You are the reason I started my shop in February and this month I will make more profit than my 9-5 job at 65k/yr salary. It IS possible if you put in the work. I didn't even buy a course because it isn't in the budget and I wanted to see how far I could get on my own. I only have 500 listings and am able to replace my income only 8 months into it.

I have done over 710 sales and most having more than 1 item per order in my first year, and I had no idea what i was doing. I'm learning every day. You do not have to explain the obvious to people who don't have the ambition to even try. Keep doing what you do!
