I drove up Horse Creek about 5 years ago! The USFS guy in Clarkston looked at me like I was crazy and asked why wouldn't you go around? Some people just don't get it (or maybe I am crazy). We hunted Shumaker Grade and on Curley Swanks place for decades. I was born in Lewiston. My grandparents homesteaded near Peola, but lost it during the depression. Love your area.

Guess I didn't pay attention the first time I viewed this. I thought the trip to Hat Point took more than 3 hours. Of course the road was very bad and rocky then. I saw when you stopped and put it in 4wd. The truck pulls better that way. I hope that you eventually made it clear to hat point. It is awesome. I've been all over Oregon but perhaps it is better to not have made videos. Let people discover it for themselves.

Did it on a bicycle in 1993. One of the hardest things I ever did n my life--4.5 hours to do the first five miles--but worth every pedal stroke when I got to the top. Coming down was almost as challenging--hard to keep the bike at a safe and manageable speed on such a steep incline.

There was a confirmed grizzly sighting several years ago in the north fork of the Clearwater river drainage just north of the Lolo motorway but the Idaho fish and game said that it was just passing through from other populations outside the area.

Simplest way is to use manual front wheel hub locks.
@jjmoss992 жыл бұрын
My pickup came with the Automatic differential disconnect so it didn’t have manual hubs. One of the benefits I’ve found with this setup is that I can engage the hubs as I’m driving and I don’t have to stop and get out and engage the hubs. It’s just a flip of a switch. since I posted this video, I have since found a set and installed them but I still mostly use the electronic disconnect. Thanks for watching.

I was towing my m-416 off-road trailer with me so it was a little nerve racking. There is a lot of random traffic that drives out here from the Enterprise area so you can expect to meet other vehicles on the road. There are spots to meet and pass each other but someone may have to backup. Thanks for watching.
@RT33193 жыл бұрын
@@jjmoss99 Thank you, sir, for the info. Great overland trailer you have there... All the best in your travel adventures. Do u think I could do tje while road in my car ? No suv.
@jjmoss993 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend it. The road is rated for 4 wheel drive and high clearance vehicles. There are spots where there are large rocks and washes in the road that would make it extremely difficult in a car. Thanks.
@susan4yahshua3 жыл бұрын
@@jjmoss99 ok....what end of the road should I start at before I have to turn around and head back....the east or west end ?
@jjmoss993 жыл бұрын
Either direction would be OK. I live west of the trail so I started from the Western side near Elk City, ID. There are lots of ATV's, UTV's and motorcycles that use the road as well so there is a high likelihood that you will meet oncoming traffic. The road is very narrow but there are spots that you can pull over and allow other vehicles to go by but someone may need to backup to find a spot. Lots of the ATV's and UTV's will drive one direction and then camp out and drive back the second day.
