I was a Kenworth guy til 4 months ago when I started with a new company and got a 23’ Volvo VNL 860. Absolutely love my Volvo. I can’t wait to get the next gen VNL in 3 years or so when my 23 is due for trade New VNL looks pretty sweet inside and outside. Definitely take it over a T680, 579, Cascadia and definitely over internationals garbage.

That emission stuff is crazy! EPA screwed everyone. That trucks would get twenty miles to the gallon if it wasn't for filters and DEF crap. Nice truck though, good features. wonder what the gear ratio is? Can you manual shift the transmission ?

Its awfully ugly! Whyyy whyyy????? I got the 16 vnl780 and nearly has double the space in cab!!! That table is half the size of mine also the seats i can fit 4 people at the table!!! The table lowers and converted into a large size bed. You could even sleep with the wife! Dash its stretched to far back on the new model totally unnecessary. I love volvos but really can't understand their designs nowadays. Anyways wish you best of luck and safe miles!!

Do you know why the fuel tanks are pushed further to the front ? The previous VNL 860 model had the fuel tanks further in the back, next to the catwalk. That extra space allowed extra room for storage ,next to the batteries. I know this model has 6 batteries instead of 4, and is a 24V system instead of a 12V

This pile of crap is an electronic nightmare. It’s all fine and dandy when the sh!t does what is supposed to do, but when it goes into the crazy mode or just craps up on you, that’s when you’ll wish you was driving one of those old-timers with simple mechanical controls and a very simple electrical system. I don’t even wanna know the cost of replacing computer modules, sensors or any other one of these uber complicated systems on these things, especially after it gets a little time and mileage on it, enough for the warranty to have expired, right? What happens if the computer gets a cold and tells that electronically controlled steering to park your truck in the ditch or make it fly off the side of a mountain? No man, I don’t trust none of these things that have a mind of their own! I’m perfectly OK with the ancient stuff, manual transmission and mechanical everything.

I like the color. It would look a lot better if it didn't have the ridiculous looking idiot mirrors on the hood. I'm not really a fan of the splattered paint look on the door panels, but something could probably be done with that. I will say, I do like the dash layout, and the brake control buttons are really cool. I've never seen those before. The sleeper layout is unique with the two side seats and center table, and the upper bunk looks like it has quite a bit of room from the mattress to the roof of the sleeper... While it's a neat idea to be able to lift up the seats in the sleeper and access the storage area from the inside, it doesn't look like it is sealed off very good, so you could get a lot of cold air coming into the sleeper. Of course one of the biggest downfall of this truck is that it's an automatic... Would I buy a Volvo ? No. Why ? because on the ones I've seen that had quite a few miles on them, the dashes and interior were falling apart. They reminded me of Freightliners. The other reason is because they won't have the resale value that a Peterbilt or a Kenworth does.
