There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

Been cutting with a super Z two years and I maintenance mine every week and includes sharpening the blades and cleaning out from under the deck if you do all that you don't have problems with cutting not the mower is the operator do your maintenance and you don't have a problem after running 5 super Z 8 to 10 hours a day 5 days a week I have no problems just your normal wear and tear also the Gator blades work way better than the standard blades.

When I went to the web site, there is no damn contact number. For me, that tells me everything I need to know about the company. I contacted my dealer to get the number, the dealer then tells me, "well.....give me your number, and I will tell them the problem and have them call you. They get real mad if I give out their number". Really!?!!? Just some words of warning. I hope someone gets to read this before they take it down.

If you are thinking of buying one, read some forums before you do. You will see that a lot of people have big problems with the decks not cutting worth a damn. I own one, I have been complaining to the dealer since day one about the cut. They finally admitted that, yes, it is an issue that Hustler is dealing with. By dealing with, they mean they try to sell you a four hundred dollar baffle kit that does not work. I tried to call them the other day to complain (today is 7/28/13) READ REPLY...
