All I gotta say is this app runs so good on my asus Rog ally, I’m taking my portable computer with me everywhere now because man it’s way way way more stable on it than on my iPad mini 6, I legit played live had to free style the whole set I had a very embarrassing moment my discovered tracks that I wanted to listen to would automatically load straight to one deck only so I had a song stop randomly 😢. I had an audio mixer, subwoofer/speakers, microphone, and iPad all hooked up. It went well for the most part I had fun and learned something’s. I am definitely taking my portable computer with me though I really love it, works so good the only difference is settings and layout but they are amazing once you get to know them.

There is a certain satisfaction in witnessing a product falter due to its own practices. Well done to you. I have always disliked the Serato model due to its limitation to specific sound cards. Now, observe as they open the software to everyone. Mark my words, because there is finally an app that is giving them a well-deserved challenge.

What's exciting to think about is the limits Serato will have to start to push if they don't want to be overlapped. Serato will have to leave their comfort zone or people will start to use alternatives and will realize how much Serato has left to be desired. Thank you for your comment!

Thank you for watching! I actually do not use Live Loops. It is very helpful in crafting ideas for a new song, but as I'm mixing two songs already created, Live Loops doesn't come in to play during my workflow. I would use Live Loops if I was producing a new song though! I use Logic Pro X before my events to prepare any special requests I have for music, but I would not use it during a live performance as LPX is designed for music production and recording. In my opinion, Ableton Live would be the best companion to a DJ during a Live DJ set,. Thanks for your comment!

I'm a sound tech at a night club, I can confidently say that this video is very misinformed. First off, If I caught any DJ using any streaming service to play their music on our sound system, I would loose my shit. The owner would ban that DJ from future gigs. You need to buy your music in a high quality format and save it to a physical drive. End of story. Streaming services may claim to be sending out a high quality high bitrate data stream each and every time Someone hits play, But in an environment, especially one where the wifi or cellular networks are super saturated with traffic, you are NOT getting a high quality stream. BUY YOUR FUCKING MUSIC. Join a goddamn DJ pool. If you're trying to do this as your job Then show some pride in your work and nuy the music you play regularly. Get the wav files. If you have to get 320kbps MP3 versions, then that's fine... just be aware that you will be able to tell who is using WAV files on big sound systems because You will be able to feel the bass that is filtered out by the mp3 compression algorithm. And lastly, using software to DJ should never ever be something you require to perform... On the contrary, if you can only DJ with a laptop and with specific software, I don't know what you think you are, but you ain't a DJ. You should be able to be put in front of any. DJ equipment and be able to spit out some music ...but if you're standing there Bitching, and complaining about how you need certain effects or a version compatible with your iOS ...or Any of the other excuses I've heard over the years Or you try to show up to a nightclub or festival with your bedroom controller asking where to plug in your RCA cables, some places would laugh you out of the door. I try to be a bit more professional about it and coach these DJ's. Stop following bullshit youtubers Or influencers that talk about djing. In reality, they are business owners performing music in a completely different environment. wedding DJs, private and corporate events are not the same as club or festival DJs. Completely different industries. Do not use DJ software if you want to be taken seriously as an artist. If you want to be a business owner and throw small events or get contracts to perform at weddings, etc? Yeah Do what you want to get ahead. ..you don't need to learn any real dj skills other than being good at business and making money. And DJ software is ideal for helping people simplify the skills Necessary for a good DJ set. You'll end up being solely reliant on that software, and Maybe even roped into some ridiculous subscription.. But if you're paid by people who Don't even care about the quality of the music for one-off events, then who cares what they think?

I used DJ Pro for years and loved it. I started with it back in 2008 I think when I first started DJing, and that was for the Spotify integration it had at the time and I was on the Mac platform. Almost 12 years it was flawless while gigging, but unfortuntately it, I had a failure with it during a wedding CEREMONY, which is really worst case scenario because it's total silence. It's impossibly to say what caused it cause there are many variables at play. I have used it since, actually I used it this past Sunday for beach ceremony, but it did cause me to take a close look at VDJ, which is my main player now. OMG it's amazing. Whatever app you use, ALWAYS have a backup on standby.
@DJOctober

Thank you for sharing your experience! I cannot imagine having an issue during a ceremony, that must have been heart dropping! I like that you mention many variables are at play. Knowing there are any number of things that can cause a failure is important to remember because if you go to your backup program and it crashes too, it could signal something else is causing the issue! Serato will be on standby in case any issues arise! You are the second or third person to mention VDJ on this comment thread, I'm going to have to do more research into the program just for knowledge purposes! Thanks for your comment!

Never had an issue with serato period. No idea what you're doing but I'm using 4 decks for mixing and scratching with zero problems. I use the features and effects to add to my performance not depending on the software to do the job for me. Seems like the newer "DJs" need the software where the older DJs can just go straight up analog with vinyl. For the older generation serato seems to work perfectly.
@DJOctober
@DJOctober 2 ай бұрын
Same here! I've never had an issue with Serato performance wise - the lack of urgency to make more controllers compatible with new updates, preventing updates from happening, is my biggest obstacle. Using 4 decks is wild, that's impressive! I don't even remember using 3 myself to be honest. Coming from a Denon DN-D6000 controller that took actual CDs, I know what not having a computer to mix with is like, and it is very limiting. Switching to Serato years ago was the best thing I ever did as a DJ. While it did the job, and it did the job well, I have reason to believe djay Pro will work even better for me and I hope that is the case! If not, I can always go back. Thanks for your comment!
@SergioL.-yh1zq
@SergioL.-yh1zq 2 ай бұрын
@@DJOctober If not using a computer is limiting, then the issue is you bro. A computer should be a compliment to your set not a necessity. Only real advantage I have with serato is not having to carry around hundreds of pounds of records. Take away the effects and I can still create the same set on analog. I believe that is the issue between new and old DJs. That's probably why the turntablists don't look at button pushers as legit. Just practice bro, you'll get there.

Suppose the song we are transitioning to is a faster tempo and we wanted to add our own elements( Let's say a midi drum beat or a base line) to the new song, then How do we make sure that those newly added Midi regions align with the grid?
@DJOctober
@DJOctober 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words, your support is felt - thank you! 🖤 I’ll have to make a video on your question, but to give you answer now, let’s say you have two songs, one at 120bpm and the second at 125bp: I would follow the steps at 1:23-2:32 (in this video). At that point both songs are technically at 120bpm, because the project tempo is now controlling the both song tempos, so you can click “G” on your keyboard to open up the automation editor. In the automation editor, you will see “Tempo” to the top left corner. Expanding the “tempo” section will reveal a line, which you can add points to and change the entire project tempo, keeping your songs AND project in sync. Because the project is in sync, you will be able to add MIDIs, drums, etc., just like if you were producing a song. There are a couple of videos in my channel that go over this, but I will definitely make one just for your comment! I hope this helps!

I did my first gig at a wedding reception and I did it on turntables. All gemini set up . Pmx 10 mixer and two 15 Inc Harbinger speakers and I murdered it.😂😂

That's amazing! 🤣 Gemini is not a brand I have any experience, but I would rather have a Gemini than no turntables, that's for sure! Thanks for sharing your experience brother. Looking back, would you have rather done a different gig as your first gig? I hope to see you around the channel bro, I am working on a new video now!

Too funny. My first gig ever was a wedding. So funny to think back on that and just how terrible I was. Like beyond terrible. Unspeakably bad. I thought I killed it though 🔥

Hey , have u or do you anyone who’s bought the pre loaded hard-drive sold online?
@DJOctober

Thanks your comment my man! I do not know of anywhere you can get a pre-loaded drive. I'm not sure how legal that would be, so I don't imagine you're going to find anyone advertising it - at least publicly. Even if you did get one somehow, there may be DMCA restrictions. I would instead recommend a DJ pool or streaming service where you know you can use the music without issues and they update the music regularly. I know that wasn't what you asked for, but I hope it helps!
