Flores has a nasal, small, pushed voice, with badly coordinated registers, making his timbre falsetto heavy and lacking squillo. Unfortunately, modern ears have becomes used to this sound and think that this is what a lyric tenor should sound like. If you would play clips where Gigli sings fortissimmo high notes, people of today would think it was a dramatic tenor singing.

Flores is an excellent artist. Different than Corelli. It’s ridiculous to compare singers as “the best” when clearly there are a number of acceptable styles and techniques. Also, every singer is allowed to have a bad period.

Además uno cantando en vivo, y el otro en un estudio de grabación con playback? Ambos grandiosos en su respectivo repertorio. Si Florez, interpretó esta aria (saliendo de su repertorio), fue básicamente, por lo popular y encanto que genera en el público. Mas bien, sería una deshubicación, y daño para su voz y el público, cantar la ópera completa. Tener cuidado, y mucho criterio para hacer este tipo de comparaciones es fundamental....
