Our GP is a indoor dog and with a xxl dog door she goes out whenever she wants.

I have a Great Pyrenees female, named Jessie. Her previous owner got ill, so we took her in & the 2 of us bonded immediately. She had never been inside a house before...until now. She adapted to her new indoor life & her cushy bed instantly. Such a great dog!

Dogs want to want to please there people and really do good with a job. You don't train a livestock guardian dog it's in their instincts to do that what makes it special is they bond with them and protect them even with their life. The herd queen or ram doesn't leave the pasture for a 9 to 5 job they are always there for them that have a sense of purpose but when you leave for work or the mall but you are gone for hours where is your dog in a 3x4 foot kennel what purpose do you think the dog feels? The best way to keep a dog of a livestock guardian dog as a pet you need to get it at 8 weeks and never leave it's side think of it as your shadow because it's bonding to you and if you are not around it will develop bad behaviors. Plenty of dogs that are instinct driven not to mention that don't think for themselves like a LGD that makes great pets.

I had a gp in the house; she did fine. We lived in an apartment. She was the bestest good girl. I lost her a year ago and I cry everyday

All things being equal think the GP would rather be outside…but with lots of indoor love and attention it can work. Outdoor walks as often as possible.

I agree with the outside part but they def love snuggling inside also , both of mine Gp’s would def love to be outside all the time

@@Mathews4life And I guess my last comment to you kinda covered it. But Pyrs can be quite happy as indoor dogs, as long as they go out Too. My Pal Hal here is going on 14. So being an indoor dog, doesn't seem to be affecting his health. Even with health issues. And tell the OP it's "Breed" 😂 I can't believe he edited that, and still blew it 🤣 Anyway. These guys (and gals : ) are a different breed 🤗🐕‍🦺🥰

Man, mine looks tiny compared to yours, he must have been the runt of his pack, he’s also a bit of a chicken when not in protective mode, he’s a good boy though and since I don’t live on a farm he is quite used to inside living (still prefers laying in the backyard when it’s cool out though)

Imo GPs are such people dogs that most of them do perfectly fine living with their families, as long as they can still patrol every once in a while

We have a golden great pyrenees and he's the best dog ik he's still a puppy but has been play bitting any tips on how to stop him from doing this it hurts cause of his puppy teeth.

Mine was inside yes there is a lot of cleaning up drool and the hair everywhere but he was the best dog ever miss him

I think your GP will do just fine. My GP is an indoor dog - we only have a relatively small suburban back yard, and he's just amazing. I wish I had known about these dogs years ago.

My mixed lab, GP is the best indoor dog. She is 13, and is a Pyrenees all the way. So loving, needs love all the time, protective.
