@@FriedAlien I don't know what it is. I'm in the process of getting the house completely cleaned up. I've been through a lot the past few years, including the death of my parents, husband and heart surgery. I haven't been able to keep the house as clean as I wanted.

Hello from a tiny town sort of near Mammoth Cave. It’s been really something here since Sunday the 5th. Snow, then sleet(that froze), then topped with another layer of snow. School was cancelled yesterday and today. Tomorrow is the first day of school after our (extended) Christmas Break. Thank you for the video. It has been a very peaceful visit.

@Krabby88 the squirrel was only able to reach it because of what I put there while cleaning the yard. That's been moved and is the only time I've had a squirrel in the feeder. Even if the squirrels were able to reach the feeder, how does that kill the birds? I don't have a problem with cats in the area. I'm close to the woods, which means they have protection from raptors. With the exception of hummingbird feeders, I only put bird feed out during the winter. So, tell me what I'm doing wrong.

❤Very nice work. Paint is important not just to increase their indoor light but it seals the wood from bacteria, mold, and mite infestations. It can also be disinfected easier if it becomes necessary. VENTILATION is very important so I'm glad you are adding big areas of mesh.❤ I use the big heavy electrician staples that are hammered in, but some people prefer using screws and washers to anchor it. 1/2" wire is paramount to keep predators out, but if the anchors are too flimsy it can be easily torn off. For the floor of your chicken run, level the entire area first, then install some large 24"x24" concrete pavers butted tightly together as a platform for the run to keep out diggers. Build your wood framing on top of the pavers so there are no gaps for anything to squeeze under. Pavers will last FOREVER, prevent muddy situations, and if you decide to relocate the coop they can simply be picked up and put down in the new spot (No wire skirting for rats and weasels to dig under, no buried wire to rust). Surround the run walls with 1/2" wire mesh and it will be secure from predators. You can use sand, straw, or whatever you want for on top of the pavers for them to walk on. I love 💕 your fenced-in yard. It will keep out all but the most determined dog or fox, so free-ranging birds will be safe from THEM at least. PLEASE KEEP US POSTED. We want to see the progress!😊 For my own birds I need to build nest boxes for a coop I'm remodeling, and I'm going to build "roll-away" nest boxes this time.😊

@@eatwhatukiii2532 I'm not worried about the ground. There's pavers under the house. The main thing I have to worry about is raccoons. But since I'll have chicken wire buried in the ground all around the pen, and mesh netting over the top, I'm not worried about them getting in. I'll also be adding an outside roost. But it will be far enough away from the fence that I won't have to worry about something grabbing them from the outside.

@@dizzysdoings the thing with chicken wire is it's so flimsy it doesn't hold up to wet conditions or predators tearing at it. Several people in the chicken groups have had raccoons tear their chicken wire to get the chickens. Just trying to give info based on experience both of my own and many others.😊 Those darn predators and the tasty chicken dinners they keep trying to get to! 😬

@eatwhatukiii2532 the chicken wire is in the ground. I don't use it for fencing other than between chicken pens. The fence that I'm using is 6 ft high with 1x2" squares. Other than rats, the only time I've ever had a predator get in a chicken pen was when I didn't close it up properly. And I've never had a problem with rats here.

Forgot to say, while the sassafras burns well, it burns quickly. It's fine for starting a fire, but isn't good if you want your fire to last long.

I wonder if the stove failed because it doesn't meet current regulations. You could probably get away with using it down here. If it's too big for your new place, I know you could sell it down here, even if someone just bought it for a shop.
