13~14 years ago, I took a high school course in 8th grade (my last year of middle school)- Algebra I. In 2nd grade- around 19~20 years ago- I fell in love with math for the first time when we learned multiplication and division, particularly division. When I took Algebra I in 8th grade, my teacher was the most chill person I’d ever met, and when we began discussion on the Fibonacci sequence- our first taste of sequences- he showed us this video and I fell in love with math for the he second time. This video is part of the reason I still love math, and I’ll never forget that year. I’m autistic so unfortunately I don’t remember my teacher’s face beyond a vague impression, but i remember that classroom, I remember always looking at the clock because it was next to the screens where our teacher would write out what we needed to learn for the class, I remember that teacher teaching us how to program our TI-84s in a basic way so we could just input the coefficients and constant and solve whatever quadratic equation we were given. And I used that knowledge to do other programs later in my life. I’ve since forgotten how to program on my calculator, but I still remember having the program in my calculator and using it on tests. Anyway, this video brings about a lot of good memories for me. And I’ll never forget this video because of that.
