These lyrics hits so hard not only for what they say, but mostly because they are so directly relatable to what Ado has told about herself in various interviews. So many of the important lines in this is almost directly what she have said publicly earlier, but put together in a song like this is devastating. It is no doubt that the lyrics actually describes her own emotional struggles growing up including how she carries those conflicting feelings with her into her success. In her birthday live stream last October she commented about this song and saying she is at a better place now, but it is still hard for her sometimes to accept herself and her accomplishments. Note that Shoka was released in a double single together with "Sakura Biyori and Time Machine", and there's a reason for that. This song is a little more cryptic, but many see it as a dialogue with her young self that she cannot heal, but that she is moving on from that past. Hatsune Miku is representing the love and support that Ado found in the vocaloid community which eventually helped her to move on as we all know. Together with the release was several pieces of artwork, most notably a drawing of the young Ado with her 3DS in hand looking a bit scared and Hatsune Miku crouching down to her, then a version of the same drawing but with the adult Ado crouching down together with Miku and looking into eachother's eyes. The third drawing is of Miku and adult Ado with an implied pinky promise between the two. If you have been looking into Ado's past, the significance of these images will be clear. The live recording of this song is from the Ado special live 2024 "Shinzou" concert where she performed the song for the first time. She is crying her eyes out during the performance.

I think you forget "桜日和とタイムマシン with 初音ミク"(Sakura Biyori and Time Machine with Hatsune Miku) that "ゆめ-c9k2m" requested in P.S. of her comment to your reaction to "Rebellion". This one is not so heavy, but might have a little setsunasa, and at least, the live version will fill you with gentle feelings and a "certain kind of" happiness.

@@oddsamurai1 Even though it's "light-hearted," the song basically deals with problems in life, so I mean the level of heaviness is much lighter than "初夏". I said "happiness," but that's brought about for reasons unique to live performances. The music video has English subtitles. While the live version also has subtitles, but they seem to be translated from Japanese voice recognition, and are not so accurate.

I think "初夏(Shoka, early summer)" is a song that Ado wrote and composed herself when she was younger than 17 years old. She later rewrote it and had someone else arrange it. Ado also talks about behind-the-scenes stories, such as "The chord progression became like this because I couldn't hold down difficult chords at the time..." She also seems to have questions like "Is it okay to release something like this into the world?". I'm sure Ado's fans know a lot of such stories.

Wow it's so impressive that she was able to compose this song at 17 but sad because of the subject matter. I imagine it must've been a hard decision to let this song put into the world when very intimate negative emotions are in full display. I'm glad she did though, it helps other people who feel or have felt this way know that they're not alone in their struggle.

This song is the theme song for the movie "Doctor-X Final (劇場版ドクターX FINAL)," and as you said , it was written by Ayase. "Ashura-chan (阿修羅ちゃん)", which you reacted to a few months ago, was the theme song for a certain season of the TV version of "Doctor-X," and it was a song that portrayed the main character, surgeon Daimon Michiko (大門未知子), as a dark heroine. So the main character of this song "episode-X" is also a surgeon, Daimon Michiko.

I've heard "Tin Dance" before, but listening to it again now, it's a song with an interesting rhythm and melody. It was originally written and composed by 日向電工 (Nikkoo-denkoo? (directing to the sun, Electrician ?)) and had Hatsune Miku sing it. I think it has no English subtitles since it is a cover. Though I'm Japanese, I can't hear the lyrics, and even when I read the lyrics posted by "ゆめ-c9k2m", I don't really understand what they're about. I listened to the original Hatsune Miku version, but I can't hear it any more. The lyrics seem to be a chaotic mix of a lot of Buddhist and Hindu concepts. You might catch the word "サンスクリット求道系(Sanskrit Kyuudou kei (Sanskrit Seeker))" that appears several times in the song. I don't know the meaning of this song, but the title "Tin Dance" is probably about tin-plated toys dancing, so I get the image of toys jumping out of a toy box in the middle of the night and dancing wildly around various Buddhist and Hindu concepts. If I read deeper, the composer of the song might be saying that this is the human world, the way of life, both thinically and positively. For people of other religions, it might be interesting to imagine dancing in a sea of the many concepts of their religion, enjoying themselves, lamenting, and dancing for their life to the fullest. This is the first time I've thought about the meaning of this song, so I may have a strange interpretation.

By the way, the comments on "ゆめ-c9k2m" can't be read unless they are sorted by newest first, right? @AkihikoKoga oh I had no idea it was a cover of a Hatsune Miku song, I wonder how the original sounds. Makes sense that it doesn't have lyrics then. I'm surprised even a native Japanese speaker doesn't get it but I guess it's the particular way it's written. It feels a little choppy and disconnected but not in a bad way. @carsson123
@carsson123 25 күн бұрын
Well, their entire "friendship" has been about (im)balance (or lack thereof) from the get-go (I mean, Bazz even called him his «underling»), since Bazz first spoke to him in that forest - it was founded and anchored on the premise that Bazz is/MUST BE the «genius» (the heir of some type of Quincy noble/elite family...A bit of a “Vegeta Complex”, of sorts), the avenger, the protector, the leader of the (surrogate) "family" they formed together (they are both orphans, after all) and Jugo is the follower, the younger brother, the weaker link that lives off him and his «genius» (and NEVER the other way around, as turned out to be true and what made the relationship impossible/unbalanced according to Bazz's messed-up terms). In Bazz's mind, as long as he doesn't effectively lose to Jugo in combat and gets proven wrong, he can keep living inside that illusion from decades and decades ago when they were kids and Jugo had no powers and BAZZ was the one who was special, the savior, the avenger, the bigger brother + he can keep believing in that friendship that doesn't exist anymore, before he found out that anything he knew about himself and his childhood "friend" was wrong...His whole identity has been a lie and he can’t face that (until that last moment). Inside Bazz's mind/heart, Jugo MUST remain weaker than he is, even if only in theory/possibility. He has to hold on to that. «I STILL haven't lost to you» = His entire ego, identity, life plan rested on that. It was either that or face the Truth/death. He doesn’t know and doesn’t want to live in any other way, it seems. (= Reminds a lot of Nnoitra and how much he depended on Nel and the idea/dream of defeating her to determine his own identity. Another great Kubo duo/”rivalry”/dependency, I think.) (It's not rare to see people surround themselves with friends and people overall that they consider "inferior", "less intelligent" or "less capable", thus making them the center of attention, applause and the "paternal/maternal" figure that others, the supposedly "less capable", depend on...It's a very common dynamic and quite well translated into anime form here. I found Jugo's poem/haiku at the end to be very interesting, as well. His entire identity seems to be sustained on this motif of «balance». It seems to be that, as long as the "good" (that he does) outweighs the "bad" (that he does) and his grand/cosmic plan (with Y.W.) to "save" the Quincies gets carried out, the ends justify the means and the “Balance” is kept (even if that means having to kill the closest thing you had to a "friend" and perhaps the last remnant of your past as a child/victim/someone without powers who could not defend himself from his abuser...He has now severed the ties with the Past). IF he manages to carry out his goal, then everything can be justified and «there is no pain» and his entire life of suffering and killing has not been for naught. It has ALL made sense. It was all “part of his Destiny” and part of Y.W.’s plan... IF NOT...Then nothing makes sense and he suffered/was abused and killed thousands for nothing. He can't accept that, so he appears to have hardened/shut himself into this "There is no pain + I believe in Your Highness/Y.W. + This is my Destiny + I belong to/with him + All my suffering has been justified" mode. (This “blindness” can’t last forever and he will eventually break or be “broken”, I’m pretty sure. He’s easily one of the characters with most dramatic potential in this new series and we almost want to seem “break” cause we know it’s gonna be special and probably insane and profoundly sad...) It reminds me a lot of Griffith's train of thought, for anyone out there who's seen/read "Berserk". In fact, his design, his poise, the way he speaks, the history of physical/sexual abuse...It all checks out. The concept of having his relationship (of possessiveness) with Y.W. be a continuation of the abusive and possessive relationship he had with his uncle was also quite ingenious on Kubo’s part. There has been some great writing this season.

This is the english translation of the above comment. I feel like it's best not to have a third person involved in this sort of thing, but there's a possibility that she (odd samurai) won't understand what she is blamed because of the language barrier, so I'll mediate a bit. The word 'shame' can mean "disgraceful," but it can also mean "unfortunate." I think what she is trying to say is, "Ado is singing in Japanese. Is there an English translation(subtitle)? There isn't. It is unfortunate/disappointing/unlucky/shame (I really wanted to know what she was singing). Well, I understand a little bit of Japanese. Of course, I don't understand it all." I like the song too, so I'm glad you reacted. I don't know why young person who doesn't want to grow up is metaphered as a bartender and a baseball player. But I like the jazzy feel of the beginning, so I think I'll just ignore it (If it's easy, I'm fine). The phrase 「舌にのった苦い感情ばかりが『発火』して」(Bitter emotions on my tongue ignite) is interesting. Japanese word 「発火」("fire," "happen to fire," and "begin to fire"), which are not commonly used, is used. I've been in the computer field for a long time, and in that field, especially AI field, we say "fire" when a rule condition is satisfied and executed in a rule-based AI system, or when a neuron receives enough input to transmit a stimulus to the next neuron. So when I hear the word 発火(fire) with Ado's strong voice, I get a strong image of neurons on my tongue firing one after another and spreading a bitter taste.

I believe that the catalyst for this collaboration between Ado and IMAGINE DRAGONS was when Joel Roadie showed Ado's "Odo (Live at Saitama Super Arena 2022.8.11) " to IMAGINE DRAGONS tour manager Jim Runge on his KZbin channel "Party Like a Rockstar Podcast" about 8 months ago as an educational activity.😌

Oh wow I would've never expected this collab but I love Imagine Dragons so I'm curious what music style they went for both to feel like they fit together. I'll make this an exception and add it next in my list. Also I hesitated to click on that because links in YT comments are not trustworthy, I'd prefer if you'd said the name of the video and whose channel is it on.

Oh my god, you're right. I guess I didn't process that because I was so sure Yukio would've done it without questioning if it physically made sense. I thought he looked shocked he went through with it when actually it's because he's reacting to Mephisto getting by someone else.

Before you told me I assumed Yukio remained silent because he didn't wanna talk about why he shot Mephisto. Now its because he knows he didn't do it but he just doesn't care anymore to even try to clear his name.

Is this channel primarily a channel that reacts to (certain specific) anime or manga, rather than general songs?
@oddsamurai1
@oddsamurai1 Ай бұрын
@AkihikoKoga That's right, every anime season I choose three shows that I'm really interest in, along with continuing manga I already like. The song reactions are for when there's a gap in my schedule, but I'm glad that usually a lot of people like them.

@@oddsamurai1 Are there genres for song reactions? Were Ado's reactions due to the connection to One Piece? If I recommend a song that doesn't have such connections, is there a chance it could be included in the reaction list if you feel like it?
@oddsamurai1
@oddsamurai1 Ай бұрын
@AkihikoKoga Any genre is welcome but just know that I'm not really into heavy metal. The Ado reactions did start because of the One Piece connection, since I was excited to learn what kind of artist would have so many songs in a new movie for it. I've thought about doing songs I don't know from artists I already like but I don't know if people will watch. You can totally go ahead and recommend something, but I won't guarantee that I'll get to it.

Thank you very much for your reaction to ADO. This reaction video came up as a recommendation while I was eating lunch, so I watched the reaction of the person I've missed for a long time. I quite like this song. Since I'm not good at English, I'm not sure if I understand your speech fully, but who do you think the redhead girl is, and who is the girl with glasses? And what do you think it means the redhead girl holds the girl with glasses' hand at the end?
@oddsamurai1
@oddsamurai1 Ай бұрын
I'm glad someone missed me, you're sweet! No problem, English is my second language so my pronunciation might make it hard too. I said the redhead girl is the leader of the people wanting revolution and change. The glasses girl wants to keep the status quo and keep everyone controlled, because of something that may have happened in the past. Redhead girl taking her hand at the end could be because she could see why she was doing this but no the methods she was using. There's genuine empathy and a wish that they could've been friends in different circumstances. I'm curious if you have a different view on it.

@@oddsamurai1 It's likely that the redhead girl and the girl with glasses are the same person. It seems to be a story about a personality that has made a mistake in their behavior on SNS and has begun to lean towards a darker side, and the remaining personality that still believes in many things is trying to save that personality. In the end, she was able to break down the hard protect armor of the girl with glasses and take her hand, which means...

@@AkihikoKoga My native language is Spanish but at this point I've known English for so long I kinda feel more comfortable talking in English. I guess I don't really see it as amazing since it's just a little bit and don't really use Japanese in everyday life but thanks for the compliment. Also your interpretation of the red-haired girl and the glasses girl is good and I honestly prefer it to my own. I really like stories where a character is split in two has to come to terms in accepting all of themselves.
@AkihikoKoga
@AkihikoKoga Ай бұрын
@@oddsamurai1 Oh, Spanish is your first language. There seems to be research that shows that Spanish and Japanese have significantly more syllables per unit time than English. Japanese has completely open syllables, i.e., the syllables are in the CV pattern of a consonant (C) + vowel (V). Therefore, while Japanese has a lot of syllables per unit time, the number of phonemes is not that large. Japanese seems like a slow language to me. I think Spanish also has a lot of open syllables, but it also has closed syllables (CVC). When I listen to a spoken Spanish language it sounds very very very fast, like a machine gun. In general, Latin-based languages sound fast too.
