I tend to have the opposite problem as you - my first row is always looser than subsequent rows. Since your first row tends to be tighter, you might try using a larger hook for the first row, then switch to the correct hook size for subsequent rows. (Since my problem is the opposite of yours, I do the opposite - I start with a smaller hook and then switch to the correct size.) I’m glad I found your channel. I enjoyed watching your video. Happy crocheting!

I see ur starting to crochet gifts early too, I’m making my mom a hexagon caridigain which will hopefully be done in October 🙃🥲
@suziestitchesАй бұрын
@@itzangel688 I know I confused a lot of people on my channel with these videos but technically all these gifts are from Christmas 2023 because I gave out little tickets on Christmas for one free crocheted item of their choice so I’m still working on finish all of them from then😅 but I’m thinking about doing it differently this year so I have most done for Christmas but we will see what I decide 😂 good luck on your hexagon cardigan I bet she will love it!!

I'm also starting to prepare making christmas gifts. Last two years I've procrastinated on making them until the last week and then stressed about it a lot. This year I'd like to do them at least in November if not earlier🥲😌

You should try learning how to do foundation crochets :) You pretty much make the chain and single crochet/double crochet row at the same time, I find it helps tension and it's easier to count if you get lost easy (I do hehe)

I just started learning this for one of the Christmas gifts I’m making and I love it!!

I used to have the issue where my chain was tighter than my rows, and sizing up half a hook size just for the chain really helped me when I had that issue!!

Why are you crocheting Christmas gifts? Not to be rude or anything just asking.
@suziestitches2 ай бұрын
I gave my family members each a ticket for Christmas last year for one crochet item of their choice because I thought it would be a good way to practice different techniques. I am still working on finishing them all :)

It makes good sense to create your Christmas gifts during the summer then you’ll have them when the holiday comes. 🤗It sure takes the stress out of it. The summertime is when I knit my winter sweaters.

i love the realness about being a perfectionist to get the coasters the same size 😭 glad im not the only one.
@suziestitches3 ай бұрын
It’s a real struggle 🤣
@deannajohnson39333 ай бұрын
I don't know if you know, but instead of trying to control your tension with your hands, you can size up and down with your crochet hook to make those coasters smaller and larger. Using a larger hook will make it more loose and drapey and using a smaller hook will make them tighter and stiffer. Also, I say ramen like "rAH-men". :D Also I like the idea of your giftees picking their own projects instead of you making random stuff that they don't want. Cool!
@suziestitches3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I will have to try sizing up for the lighter color coaster because I could not get the tension right. I think I may continue to allow the giftees to pick their gifts because then I know it is something they will use :)
