Did you feel like hiking boots or hiking shoes are best? My nephew just popped the question at the TOP!!!
@HikerTrashHusbands2 сағат бұрын
Congratulations to your nephew and their fiancé!!!!! We only use hiking boots in the winter months when we need insulation and need a good fit for our microspikes or snowshoes. Otherwise it’s almost always hiking shoes or in Moe’s case, hiking sandals. Jeff’s shoe of choice are Altra Lone Peaks - alnk.to/clYcYxe Moe’s are Deliberate Life Design sandals - www.deliberatelifedesigns.com

We checked it out at the tail-end of a 2-day Kilkenney Traverse. Very cool place. Feels like a pterodactyl is going to swoop down on you. Slippery as hell though. I fell on my ass.
@HikerTrashHusbands20 күн бұрын
We’ve never been there and had it be anything but damp and slick - and you’re right, it’s like its own little world back there.

You're right, it could have been worse. I got my foot wedged in between a rock and a log there! All kidding aside, you guys should make another blooper video. Like your Parapet Trail!

Most people do it the other way....UP! I wish we had done it your way, easier for Shorty to sit and lower myself to the next boulder! Glad to see you could do THAT PLACE after your injury. By the way, you didn't see any trekking poles or an old water bottle, did you? 😂😂😂 A Randolph road walk is prettier and more peaceful than some hiking trails. Neighbors asked us if I got lost in the gulch😅
@HikerTrashHusbands26 күн бұрын
Having done it twice now (Jeff) I can’t imagine doing it up through the gulch. Not only are you working on going up, you’re climbing up and over the stuff as opposed to kind of dropping yourself through. If I did it again, I’d totally still go down. Moe almost lost his poles a few times, so we totally understand! Yours must be way down deep lol. That road walk is so pretty with the northern Presidentials rising up.

The waterfall was beautiful, there were lots of gorgeous ferns, and some of the most massive moss-covered boulders were unlike anything we have here in the Ozarks, but most of all, I simply admired your determination to conquer the non-existent paths through all those rocks.

That’s really sweet. It definitely a trail that tests you and we were proud of one another for making it through and still having smiles on our face at the end.

Are there bears and other dangerous animals on the trail... and what about snakes ?
@HikerTrashHusbandsАй бұрын
Honestly you’re very unlikely to see a bear or a snake on this trail. It’s a busy trail which keeps most wildlife away. We think all will be good!

Is this a good trail for a beginner hiker? I already did Willard.
@HikerTrashHusbandsАй бұрын
We think so! Would probably be easiest to go up and down from the trailhead that leaves the Flume parking area. The climbing isn’t as steep as the side that comes up from the Indian Head resort.

@HikerTrashHusbandsАй бұрын
We lucked out with some good weather this time - the last time we were on the Edmands Path it was a nor’easter coming through - so this was way better!! Edmands had some skill back then before many others did! Amazing trail layout and the level of rock work just below treeline is stunning. The trail still looks great almost 120 years later.

@HikerTrashHusbandsАй бұрын
It definitely was a day! We hand a blast though. When we were on top of Champlain Mountain, we were at the Precipice Trail, but it was closed for the falcon nesting. You have to time it right and honestly it’s probably a bit too much for our sense of adventure - but one day when we are there in the fall.
