Great chat with Will. Strength training is definitely underrated in running - but personally I see a lot of benefit and it certainly help me stay injury-free (ish...stupid elbow)

It's impossible to deny the passion that drives Bryce and the folks at Ultraspire are passionate about trail running and are their to support your success. There were EVERYWHERE at Cocodona - crewing aid station, pacing. They are part of this community. Look, what other company can say that - boots on the ground, filling your bottle and cooling you down with sponges? And their products are solid (I've been using the speedgoat for the longest time)

Super interesting podcast (as always) wow Chad can run eh and yes super modest... Thank you so much for these episodes.. Its so lovely to live them vicariously x (a tiny thing but I think you have some background white noise going on.. Not there with Chad but a buckle up thing.. Its not a problem but just in case you weren't aware)

So great to have Chad on the podcast! It was really interesting for me to hear perspective from someone way ahead, and contrast this to me and Brian's experience.

It was great to have him before the race! And also to see him on course. I like his attitude and that helped me be in the right mindset of taking care of myself to be able to be steady the whole race!

Very different style but same concept re.. What next comments.. I have been helping to mentor a young shiny new runner, he has much speed in his legs and is a tad obsessed (of course.. He's 19)with the next pb and I have had to gently say.. Hey there will be a day when you reach your peak speed which to him feels impossible 😂so with that in mind and for a small ego deflation we hit the trails.. Of course he smashed through the 10k ( the kid runs well) so wanted a half trail which taught him a great deal about suddenly finding it hard.... I think it has sown a seed of passion for going further.. I have sent him the link to simons Mt fuji race... Maybe one day that lad will find.. Its not always faster but it can be further x lad will

You are all three of you very inspiring gentlemen... My hope is that my grandsons grow up to be as humble, strong, considerate and determined to live a life of adventure as you guys.. You are indeed living and cherishing the joy of movement whilst not giving in to egotistical behaviours.. I applaud you and I thank you for the content 🎉

@@runningwithsimon so so true, I think that the allure of a fast pb is a glittery goal whereas the hard won slog seems less 'glamorous' yet builds so much inner strength 💯

Runners, even old retired runners will never ever run out of running stories xx .. Runners, even old knackered runners 😂 will never ever ever get bored of run chat..

I was incredibly fortunate and have always been able to take or leave alcohol but equally I was 'fun bobby' If I went out to party with my posse I was a great drinker, we all were but I made a decision years ago that running hungover just didn't fly with me and that as I got proud of my fitness levels improving, it seemed senseless (to me) to add toxins to my body and so I decided to not drink again.. I felt almost guilty about this when out with the posse, I did feel a little naked and yes a little less 'fun bobby' but after some time I realised that I am 'hilarious lovely Emma with no hangover' still fun, maybe not as crazy fun but certainly happier with myself.. And maybe a little smug too 😂

I love Simons idea of right and wrong decisions being what informs our character... In life, moment by moment it is about those decisions, some instinctive and some made with thought and sometimes with help... I guess that is a fantastic a ology for running.. From the decision to show up, through when to take that gel or which path to take.. It makes it understandable how running (and I am thinking Endurance because to me it's when the high passes and you dig in when the results of decisions are felt) really can help so so much with the journey of life in general... I watch my 2 year old grandson learning to choose the better decisions and how to self regulate and he is blessed, he has parents who are kind and wise and ensure he has outside space every day but for somebody whose childhood has been 'stolen' it's much harder to chose wisely in adolescence, the self regulation stage has been interrupted AND YET people like Brian and many others do find their way to good choices... Its so often sport that fills the voids... I guess that running is an addiction in its own right but it's a healthy choice (unless it impacts badly).. I wish that schools made more of running in P. E.. Its something that I believe is so beneficial to both physical and mental wellbeing.. Thankyou for such an honest podcast x

A light hearted comment... 30 miles into a coastal run I had packed a chocolate apple (like a toffee apple but chocolate) covered in sugar sprinkles and marshmallow... Seriously THAT was the best thing I could have eaten at that moment... A kinda big treat to look forward to 🎉 other than that I use chia based gels and a ginger based electrolyte drink... Seems to discourage the 💩💩.. Also salt and vinegar crisps... On a normal day I eat a porridge breakfast but on run days porridge seems to have a baddddd 💩 effect......

@@buckleuppodcast282 I ran my first 50k last November and I’m training for my next in April (Desert Rats). I typically peak at around 40-45mi for a few weeks before tapering. I also do some cross training during the week. I’m wanting to run my first 50mi in August in FairPlay, Co but am a little concerned about increasing mileage per week due to time and potential injuries (I also really like cross training). What kinda mileage per week do y’all recommend for a 50mi? Is what I’m doing enough plus the cross training?
