you don't even have to be unique. Hollow knight, for example, didn't do anything that's groundbreaking. What they *did* do was iron out already existing mechanics and polish them to a ridiculous amount.

i would venture to say that it's okay to use assets you purchase for your final game. Depends on how prevalent the asset is gonna be. But if i buy an asset for a mug that's gonna be used on a desk, probably no one will notice.

Absolutely there should be more Metroid Prime style games! I _greatly_ enjoyed Metroid Prime, and first-person shooters with a strong exploration, item-gated progression, and puzzle focus sound very rare in the current landscape I didn't really notice the similarities Halo 3 had to Prime (or vice-versa, I'm fairly sure I played H3 before Prime), but interesting you bring that up nonetheless. I also think that a Prime-like FPS might benefit from _not_ having a lock on feature? But I don't know, I just I played Prime via PrimeHack with a keyboard and mouse :P (I also bought Remastered)
