I really like to panel view you have at the 5:45 point. What camera were you using and how did you have it mounted? I have tried mounting to one of the shoulder straps (the one without the air bag) but I can not keep the camera pointed where I want.

Congrats on getting back into the left seat. I am trying to return as well, and have had a hard time flying out of Leesburg because it seems like openair is always busy. Wondering how you feel about the school you trained at? Would love any perspectives, you had. Thanks.

Check out NOVA Pilots at KJYO. (www.novapilots.com) Bob Garity is the Chief Flight Instructor and Founder and he is one of the the best Cirrus instructors in the country. He started the school a few years ago after leaving OpenAir. All the instructors at NOVA are excellent and most are professional CFI's, as opposed to "time-builders". N902TV is a NOVA rental. And, their rates are lower than anybody!

Sorry if this a little late as I know you posted this 6 years ago. I noticed during the stall you did not at anytime hold the AP disconnect. Had you disabled the envelope protection from the menu as it seemed to me that the envelope protection was kicking in on the stall and pushing your nose down as it should so you would pull back and gain height. I didn’t see a full blown buffet and stall rather a series of stalls correct by the envelope protection.

Hi Ray, thanks for watching. I disconnected the AP at 0:34 and was hand flying the remainder of the video. If I remember correctly N826MS has envelope protection for overbanking but not a "stick pusher" for stalling. And, yes, you are correct, these were not full blown stalls. Happy flying!

I agree on the altitude, you can’t fluctuate 400 feet , it’s not practicing correctly

I remember 1st time I flew a Warrior after training in Cessna 150's and 172's ..trying to get the plane to "break" (shuddering then wing drop) when in a full stall. I kept pulling the yoke all the way back and my instructor said " That's it, you're in a full stall" I trained in Warriors after that!

Planning on flying from GAI to GED. A bit intimidated by that narrow and low corridor out of the SFRA, I haven’t done that one yet. I normally go north through Wooly. I’m thinking about taking a CFI along for the first time. This video helps. I’ll fly it in msfs too for some additional situational awareness.
@CirrusSR20Pilot
@CirrusSR20Pilot 3 жыл бұрын
The corridor is actually quite easy. Put VPONX and VPOOP in your GPS as this will take you directly down the center of the corridor. Fly at 1500' eastbound and 2000' westbound (since you can't do 2500') You will be talking to ATC and have your SFRA code in the transponder exactly like when you fly out of KGAI to WOOLY.

Other than being slightly unstable I don't see what the deal is... did I miss something? 1k fps is more advance than a typical landing but this was executed very well with good power management. I must be missing something 🤔

I see you have a suction cup mount on the windshield for the ipad. I tried to mount a gopro on a cirrus last week and my suction cup didn't seem to grab hold because of the curved windshield.Is that a certain model that worked better?
@CirrusSR20Pilot
@CirrusSR20Pilot 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott. I use the "RAM Twist-Lock Suction Cup with Ball". Seems to work really well. I have heard other pilots and CFI's say we should not place an iPad in this particular location because if it falls off during a critical moment (like landing) it can interfere with the side-yolk. But, honestly, I've never had an issue with it falling off. Happy Flying !

What key did you press on your autopilot to hold at your mda, I usually just do step downs manually but when I arm apr mode it brings up an advisory glide path on the g1000 like yours in the video so I was just wondering what autopilot key you used to stop following the glide path
