And if you run out of charge you can't even take a can of petrol and get it running again. You have no option but to wait hours for a tow truck to come from nearby town. And I'm not even considering the the typical range drop that happens to EVs in cold weather. There are valid uses of electric drivetrains but the uncertainty of adventure travel makes it the worst option. The amount of planning an EV trip requires, there is no scope for exploration or adventure.
