Youth helps too. I used to work 40 hrs a week and hunt almost every day. Then take a week off and hunt sun up to sun down during the rut...now, I'm retired and can't hunt half as hard.... Do it while you can....it doesn't last forever

You’re asking a target shooter though. High foc high mass is completely against what benefits target shooters. He like flat trajectory

A beautiful Pa late Oct morning. Red leaves, nice weather and a bunch of young bucks chasing does around hehe I give hunters credit that can kill mature Pa bucks in the early season constantly

If i take my weapon when i need be looking or aim to scout it 100% of the time turns into creepin,still hunting covering 1/10 ground i should have! Everytime,its the bain of my in any season scouting! Frustrates the living bleep out of me and i continue to do it to this point! Smh dilemma for sure. The pressure of having a regional giant 160 class deer on camera last year,seeing him in august this year has also ruined my hunting so far last year and to this point. Ive been face to face with 3 bear encounters ""-15ft" 8 points,mega 6,called in a 8 this past weekend just nothing excites me knowing ol'hank is running amuck! Lol gotta figure it out though and i know its a problem so thats the first step! I want it so bad 25yrs in the making its consumed my brain for a big clip of time. At all cost, im full effort,i must win! Haha self hype man,all true statements though. Good luck out there gentlemen. I work 11 on road 2 home so that adds great stress to the situ

I can't think of anyone more fun and entertaining to listen to on a podcast about whitetails than Ryan. He's like a big kid when it comes to deer. He gets into it like nobody else. I managed to squeeze in the first week of November off from work. This has gotten me fired up for the rut.

How are you all so sure they are that far away? I guess I just question how normal it is for these big bucks to be walking 5 miles in daylight even during the rut. I’m sure it happens but is it that common? Are you sure they aren’t bedded up somewhere within a few hundred yards?
@ukjw26 күн бұрын
Having said that I agree on not worrying as much around the wind. A lot of my best spots you are almost guaranteed to get busted by something.
@madwe22697 сағат бұрын
In the big woods often not. These bucks are going over a mile every day for food sometimes. Going a few miles in a day for poon isn't out of the ordinary for these bucks, especially later in the rut

Seems to me in this podcast or another recent one you mentioned the week of Thanksgiving as your favorite week to hunt. My work travel schedule has stepped all over my hunting schedule. Do you feel it would be worthwhile for me to focus on a Thanksgiving week bow hunt here in Southwestern PA?

Find fresh sign set up according to the wind and pay attention to your thermals it funnels the deer through the lowest point set off however far your comfortable shooting from that

Good conversation. Great info. But the sale pitch is exactly why the stigma of $$$ buys big bucks. Sad that good hunters resort to this and folks who can’t afford these services are again disadvantaged. Doesn’t bother me with guides who provide a service or on private……but if you are helping folks on public land it’s kinda BS. Same reason people get oissed at all the KZbin sensations! They all end up screwing public land hunters that don’t have an unlimited budget!!!!

Sorry but females in hunting camps always cause problems. Especially good looking ones. Things end up getting said , usually in good fun. But things get taken wrong and get dramatic pretty fast .

Being realistic and eliminating a lot of the unrealistic expectations that can be formed from watching a lot of the media content that is out there is what we all need. It’s not all Booners and perfect situations all the time!!! Keeping it real really helps!
