Vito always knew narcotics would poison the empire. And it's what happened when he was gone -- everyone turned on each other, brother against brother.

If anyone payed any attention to the underlying advice that is given during these scenes and applied them to their every day life,it would probably make a difference in how they handled anyone.

Fun fact: The actor playing Johnny Fontane was actually denied the role by Francis Ford Coppola. Denied until he was influenced otherwise by certain people. Great scene

The street chatter in the background. They made it to lend authenticity. A Don is close to the surroundings he is comfortable and made him. Background noise could be supressed and no one would notice. And yet production added it. Brilliant.

Michael is as cold as a machine but the old godfather is more humane. I prefer the godfather played by Marlon Brando who started from nothing and worked hard to become wealthy and successful. Without him, there would be no success for the Corleone family! The most important thing is that the direction that Michael later immersed himself in politics was also the direction given to him by the old godfather. In addition, everyone should not ignore the dogma of the old godfather. Just imagine which movie in the history of film has the same teachings and requirements as Vito Does your son want to go home more often to spend time with his wife and family? The Godfather can really be said to be an example of a successful man! Worthy of respect from future generations.Frankly speaking, I am a gang member from Hong Kong. After watching this movie, I changed a lot. My relationship with my parents was not very good before. Later, I began to become more generous to my parents and family, as long as it was within my ability. I must give my parents and family the best life possible. This also made my family care about me more. I must also thank the movie "The Godfather" because it really affected and changed my life. I really can't find another movie like this anymore. The last thing I want to say is that if I were Michael, I would never even imagine killing my natural born older brother.

His own brother betrayed him, which nearly caused not only his death but also the death of his wife. Not only Freddo was bitter and jealous but he had an unstable and manipulable personality, he was too dangerous. Having him killed was extrem maybe Michael should have sent him into exile somewhere. Vito never had to deal with this kind of situation.

3:07: just before Don Corleone sits down next to Sollozzo, he is seen wiping the arm of the chair Sollozzo’s sitting in. By wiping the “dirty” chair, Don Corleone symbolically rejects Sollozzo’s proposal to involve the Corleone family in the drug business. It’s the little details that make me appreciate this movie!

Drugs are the future. Don corleone was wrong about that

No they’re not. In real life, the only thing that brought down the mob was drugs. Including internal fighting amongst the families. Take Angelo Bruno, Paul Castellano and many others whom got whacked because of this drug business. Whether you refuse to deal, or choose to deal, either way, the mob got destroyed because of it

Santino showing his emotions in the meeting probably also led the decision to kill the Don, to make way for sonny etc to make it ironically easier to get their corporation.

Santino got up the last. Subtle detail Coppola added to show he wasn’t ready for meeting to end and actually for the deal to happen.

Can’t even imagine anyone taking Michael’s side in this moment. Carlo deserved his fate, but Michael didn’t kill him because of his sister, that’s a fact. No none but Sonny actually gave enough of a shit to actually protect HER.
