Michael is as cold as a machine but the old godfather is more humane. I prefer the godfather played by Marlon Brando who started from nothing and worked hard to become wealthy and successful. Without him, there would be no success for the Corleone family! Al Lettieri was a very talented and underrated actor. He played his part so well and believable , that it was impossible not to see that he was the needed actor to fulfill the CATALYST role for the whole film…..

Can’t even imagine anyone taking Michael’s side in this moment. Carlo deserved his fate, but Michael didn’t kill him because of his sister, that’s a fact. No none but Sonny actually gave enough of a shit to actually protect HER.
