He always succeeded to bring the heavenly arrangement and voices to this world. May God bless Sir JR.

Goose bump music. I, too, sang this song in High School concert choir. Great message to boot.

I sang this beautiful song at my eighth grade graduation. A long, long time ago. It still moves me to this very day. A wonderful rendition, Westminster Choir!

As an incoming freshman at Iowa Wesleyan College now University in 1981 I have thrilling memories of those spontaneous performances of this peice by upper classmates previous season favorites. And the choir director Burton Mahle was a pushover for F Melius Christiansen.

My rude music teacher went here his name was Matthew South and he always criticized me about how I play the ukulele and he made me and my friend not work or talk to each other even when we were doing our work so I wanted to get revenge by exposing him because he was on a gay dating app he hasn’t found out yet but I reported it to the school staff and did nothing

This made me cry and sob. In Chapel at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas and large functions in the coliseum, we would sing this song. ACU is known fir this. These voices sound just like our large crowds which, of course, sang it A cappella. Such fond memories at ACU. Thank you for posting this perfect and beautiful video of this fine choir. I would love to hear them in person. Maybe some day.

I'm not religious but this has to be my most favorite song that we sung at chorus in school. It's so beautiful. This choir did it so amazingly. I can't help but hum along with the altos. When we performed this, a couple of us got teary eyed (myself included) and some in the audience were too. We weren't in the stands, though. We each had a battery powered candle, the lights were turned off, and we all made rounds in the audience while singing. We were just illuminated by the candles. It was very touching.

Listened to a few of these and this is one of the very few recordings that gets the mix right between piano and voice. Many others have the piano part too dominant. Bravo to the recording techs as much as the performers.

Westminster was the premier choral conservatory in the country. Absolutely magnificent school with talented and dedicated instructors and students. It is an unmitigated disgrace that Rider has destroyed this once thriving cultural academic institution. SHAME ON RIDER!

"The Lord Bless You and Keep You" Is this the same Lord who is a mass murderer? (I'm referring to the nearly entire population of the earth (est. 4 billion) by Noah's flood - as well as killing the populations of Sodom & Gomorrah, The firstborn Egyptians, the massacre of women and children at Jericho and the Egyptian chariot army). It's doubtful that these human beings felt blessed. And by "keep" it is meant that God can turn on innocent people and destroy them, then I get it.

Sure on this shining night Of starmade shadows round Kindness must watch for me This side the ground On this shining night This shining night Sure on this shining night Of starmade shadows round Kindness must watch for me This side the ground On this shining night This shining night. The late year lies down the north All is healed, all is health High summer holds the earth Hearts all whole The late year lies down the north All is healed, all is health High summer holds the earth Hearts all whole Sure on this shining night Sure on this shining night Sure on this shining night I weep for wonder Wandering far alone Of shadows on the stars Sure on this shining night Of starmade shadows round Kindness must watch for me This side the ground Oh, this shining night This shining night The shining night Sure on this shining night Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: James Agee / Morten Lauridsen

Absolutely stunning! Not just the diction. Not just the vocal concept and tone. Not just the phrasing and the shaping of each line, of each word. But the truth that's infused throughout all of this is joverwhelming and overpowering. So proud of you all! Fantastic work!

My high school, Collingswood High in NJ sang this arrangement at the end of every fall concert. It was brought to Collingswood by our Director at the time, the great Nelson Muschek. He brought it from his high school, Olney High in Philadelphia. One year after our concert we went to a restaurant for an after party. While there we sang the song again, and were joined by the manager of the restaurant, an amazing bass. After we were done, he allowed that he learned it at Olney High as well, and couldn’t help joining in. When I meet my end, there are two pieces I would like at my funeral, “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place,” and this stirring number. Peter Lutkin was never better, and the voices of Westminster Choir College served him well.
