From the first time I'd seen the 1942 Lincoln Continental it comfirmed to me that 1941- 1942 were thee most beautiful car designs of all the nineteen fourties. My opinion includes the big 3 and also the independents. Designs that were clean and pure in execution. Because of the 2nd World War most detroit models after 1945 were warmed over pre war cars. Though I've already mentioned, I beleive all 41- 42 cars from Detroit were at the zenith of design in the nineteen fourtes. Keep up the great work.

Seems to me that the rolls engine will beat the boat to death in the long run. Weren’t those mahogany boats made to cruise at more leisurely speeds?

For those of you who do not know what you do not know, the engine shown is not a Rolls Royce Merlin. It is a Rolls Royce designed Meteor which was most likely manufactured by Rover.
@vincentbober3609
@vincentbober3609 5 жыл бұрын
@Revolt Ventures No, the Merlin was used in the Spitfire. The meteor has no supercharger, was rated at 650 HP and was used in Cromwell, Centurian and other British tanks. The Merlin and the Meteor share the same basic architecture as well as many common parts.

While I love the sound of a V-12 a silent electric hot rod version with loads of torque would be like riding a silent arrow through the water.

First off: You guys are so very lucky to be able to do fun stuff like that. Putting a merlin in a mahogany canoe is time well spent, no matter what they say. The hull design is good. She flows through the water well. I do suspect that engine is a bit too much for her structurally. BUT, my car will theoretically go 240km/h yet I don't do that through town.So, all good. Lovely boat.
@1LEgGOdt

How about we swap out that 240km/h engine and replace it with a Merlin 620/621 series that has 1,795 hp.

Look at that boat. It's a 1927 style design with a WWII era piston motor and even today it's very impressive. What a brute.
