Dave Stockton My brother. You probably don’t remember me but you baptized me in the applegate in 2000. What a trip you just came across my feed and I recognized those sleepy eyes and I scrolled back like, I think I know that guy. I was second half of the summer, summer crew at Bradley. You anointed me with oil. I got a word from the Lord going into a worship service and then it was confirmed by the speaker and you anointed me in the gym on the stage. Bro I remember those kids dancing carrying on in the cafeteria and you looked at me and you said, you see that? No more walls, they are free. It was one of the happiest times of my life that summer. God bless you bro. -Joel Sullivan

Can I give this so called gift (I would have called it trash but I don't want to offend God) to someone else who actually wanted it?
@johnz4328Ай бұрын
Let’s face it very few people want this gift (trash). It’s no secret that most pastors who give singleness any attention at all did not choose this gift for themselves.
@cliffli5060Ай бұрын
@@johnz4328 I know right. I appreciate what God has done for me, and has given to me. But life overall is meaningless without a girlfriend or wife. If I have a say, I rather not come to this world.

Celibacy is a gift (1 Corinthians 7). Singleness is an affliction. The Church needs to stop treating them as if they're the same.
@johnz4328Ай бұрын
Correct but I don’t believe there are many churches listening or care to make the distinction.
@victoriagubrud2373Ай бұрын
But wasn't jesus single? He was also celibate, but he was single as well.
@johnz4328Ай бұрын
@@victoriagubrud2373 I’m not sure what your point is? Why shouldn’t all Christians stay single? I think it’s obvious that Jesus and Paul being single has become a bludgeon used against people who have a God given desire for a spouse and children but will likely never reach such a goal without church compassion and help. No it’s not right to repeatedly hit single people over the head with Jesus and Paul were single so it is automatically good for you too! How many people can live the life Jesus and Paul lived? Is that really the will of God in every detail of your life?
@victoriagubrud2373Ай бұрын
@johnz4328 umm, I wasn't trying to say all christians should be single. I was pointing out how it isn't a bad thing to be single and a lot of growth can come from being single. I myself am single. And it can be argued that being single while christian and happy, you could be accidentally excluded from things like valentines celebrations, or mothers or fathers day. Maybe next time instead of jumping to the conclusion that someone is arguing in favor of a certain viewpoint you should ask that person to explain what their argument actually was, because in this case I was actually arguing the opposite of what you assumed.
@johnz4328Ай бұрын
@@victoriagubrud2373 I don’t believe you had bad intentions and I do believe some people are perfectly fine with being single but I absolutely do not believe that the church is not pressuring single people to stay that way needlessly some people will never do well in life single and insisting that they are going to have growth in life is just choosing to ignore the harsh realities of what some singles will go through the church does not make up for the loss of spouse and family.
