What england should’ve done was have their bowler bowl some wides and no-balls to get the target down to 7 to win (6 to tie), even if it would’ve annoyed the hell out of (kerry) packer 🤡

We were all thinking 143 and 134 sachin scored against aus the previous year at sharjah but the thing here was that the match was being played in english conditions were there is seam and movement well I feel azhar should have chosen to bat instead of bowling even if india had lost sachin early while batting first we would have been able to post a score of 250 to 260 and put pressure on the aussie batting

I grew up hearing folklore of this particular match from dad who was in his late teens & I have never seen Kapil Dev live but can say proudly he still is the greatest all-rounder of our nation. Once India started losing early wickets, my dad took my uncle(he was a kid) for a cycle ride as the whole household was super excited for this match & were disappointed seeing the early fall of wickets. But once they came back expecting the result to be on WI's favour , the Giants were 7 down and all excitement, joy came back to our household.

Eddo Brandes told a nice story of this match, after the first innings Geoff Boycott grilled Zimbabwe of such an abject batting display and told Zimbabwe players to see how we bat. After the second innings, he was nowhere to be seen 😂😂😂😂😂

Typical Bombay player, Ravi Shastri, put his own score and wicket ahead of the team's interest. 57 runs off 111 balls. Had he scored 10 more India would have won the match.

Kapil Dev Ji single-handedly brought India back in the tournament after his 175 against Zimbabwe, which lifted the morale of the laggards and nonbelievers, I.e., his own team India's cricket is what it is today because of the legend, who was never recognized by the Indian Government, though he truly deserved Bharat Ratna for beating the invincible Windies in the Finals. His catch of Viv Richards was the real turning point It's sad that UK had conferred Knighthood for so many other cricketers, but Kapil definitely deserved to be known as Sir Kapil Dev Maybe mortals didn't recognize him but TIME will register his name in Golden Letters as the Best ever Sportsperson India has seen Salutations Kapil PA Ji ❤ 😊

The most stylish batsman in the history of the world cricket. Mark Waugh always played the gripped shots, the shots in the gap and well timed by perfectly using his wrist. A true world class batsman. Huge love from a pakistani fan ❤🇵🇰

When Richards and Hynes started blasting from both the ends i switched off my transistor out of frustation around 45/1 . After 20 or 25 minutes when i switched on i could not hear anything . commentary could not be heard at all for 2 minutes. I was wondering what had happened. Then heard that Lloyd had just departed. Such an unbelievable occasion had never happened in my life.❤

Alan Donald - When I struck him, I thought I had killed him. [The ball] made just the most horrible thud when it hit him. I was just so shocked by his response. He just put his floppy back on and continued batting. Donald said later that Pat Symcox wanted Donald to give him a taste of bouncer again for his sheer audacity, but Donald wisely neglected saying- There’s no way I’m bowling him another bouncer. The game was dead, they had lost, and I was not going to bowl another bouncer.
