This film was an interesting exploration of evil. When you meet Slim, you think of him as a thug trying to do right by his family. When you meet the cops, they seem like callous fascist bastards. Then these guys come, and make the thugs and pigs look like righteous angels. No matter how shitty the world is, how low someone is, there’s always someone lower.
@rawkguy48963 ай бұрын
Agree. It seems like the central point was to contrast those who turn to crime based off circumstances beyond their control (Mel & Vince with Slim and Muscles) versus those who genuinely have no regard for human life (the villains). You see this parallel in Brawl in Cell Block 99 too with Vince's character and the cartel.

I wonder if there's any significance to the 5 second count difference between Grey and Black gloves. Black counts up and Grey counts down. Grey is the more sadistic of the two so it could be that he's looking forward to the kill more, whereas Black is just doing business. It could also mean nothing and Zahler just put it in for plot

Totally agree! It was so satisfying when one of them came out of the truck and tried to beg for medical attention, and Mels character just executes him straight away. Just shows how much of a coward and afraid of death he really was. Total scum.
