It’s crazy that this theme only showed up in soundtracks before this game came out. 10 seconds of it is in TESB but cuts off before the rest.

It was made too late. George Lucas actually said if Shadows of the Empire had come out in the ‘80s, it would’ve been a movie for sure.

Though this song was never used in a Star Ward film, if you watch Empire Strikes Back, when Luke is attacked by the snow creature and carried off, you can hear the beginning harp of this song as the scene transitions to another scene!!!

Ji$ney should 'make a Dash Render' film by falling utterly & completely apart so that others can buy up all their assets & begin making SW as it should be. Ji$ney has done maybe one, two things right - 'Rogue One' as a contribution to the lore, was ok, & then they hired John Williams to do the music for 3 big fan-films.

This theme is in the new lego star wars game when escaping hoth. The outrider also features as a drivable ship. However Dash himself is absent

That’s because it isn’t the Outrider specifically, just a generic YT-2400 freighter. Probably because the ship happened to be included in the Special Edition of A New Hope and the developers wanted to stick with Canon material only.

I would’ve loved if The Skywalker Saga had included Dash Rendar, as well as Prince Xizor, Guri, Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, Delta Squad, Starkiller, and the various KOTOR characters as well. But Disney clearly didn’t care for that stuff. Grand Admiral Thrawn only made it in because he was recanonized in Star Wars Rebels.

SOTE, this game in particular, is what initiated me into the Star Wars fandom at age 15. I was fortunate that just months after this game came out, the special edition of the OT was released in theaters. Really weird way to get into it since both Episode V and VI served to help me understand why Han was in the condition he was in in the game, and how he got out of it. Not long after I read the novel and look forward to reading it again. More specific to this video, I had always thought this theme was composed specifically for the game since it doesn't appear in any of the films. Years later it was a joy to discover that it was a part of the TESB score all along, titled The Ice Planet Hoth. So beautiful! And forever the essence of Star Wars to me.

Yeah the late 80s and 90s would of been gold for Star Wars as they could of went wild with the EU stuff. I can picture a 90s Kurt russel staring as dash rendar and having a epic gritty 90s film with full of that cheesy action that was prominent in like commando and stuff it would of been epic

George Lucas was spending all that time writing the Prequel Trilogy, and he wanted to wait until he had the technology to make the Star Wars movies he wanted. By the time it happened though, he was just too old to keep the series going after Revenge of the Sith.

I always like how this game had different things in it from platforming, shooting, exploring, challenges, and flight missions. I also like how dark it was - it wasn't overplayed but you got the sense of how dire things were for the rebellion at this time. The soundtrack is just the icing on the cake.
