Somewhere I have a reel-to-reel tape with early versions of this great Stevie Wonder written tune. Got it from someone back in Chicago who claimed to have been her boyfriend at the time. That was in '73, before it was released. It's got a couple of messy versions, but it's definitely this song.

Ook weer zo'n (zwarte) funkband met rockinvloeden. Het idee dat de (witte) Red Hot Chili Peppers íets bijgedragen hebben aan de geschiedenis van popmuziek, is helaas gewoon een racistisch misverstand... Dít is goed!

Chaka was and is to this day a main attraction. So much so, that Rufus barely gets an honorable mention. But they were a great band even before Chaka joined them. It's nobody's fault, but because of Chaka, they're one of the most underrated bands from that era. I'm sure they don't regret having Chaka as their singer, cause there were many great bands in those days that never got noticed.
