If you're pestered by bream use more hemp and massive hookbait as Guy Rob did in one of his videos when he was fishimg the Thames.

Hi Tom, I watched all 3 of the videos many and many times. Those guys with John Baker helped me a lot in barbel fishing. Since I watched those videos, I started to roll my bait for my barbel fishing. I know that.stretch holds big barbel, but be patient and do your "homework." At the end of the day, you will catch some.

Being on the bank and seeing nature, wether it be a kingfisher, deer, snakes, voles or a cheeky little robin etc... make the session a little bit special for me. Flood water levels on the stretches of the Nene where i fish have dropped considerably,so i'll be out this weekend after a chub or barbel.

My advice on the barbel is finding a fast bit of water as they like abit of flow , and stick to standard halibut pellets as they really are the most productive bait other than luncheon meat in my experience and opinion. Tight lines.

Hampton court used to be good especially in October. Also cigarette island in sunbury by the wier pool, very good in the summer. You also need to time it right. I learnt there is no point in fishing in the day. The barbel on the thames rarely feed in the day. I caught 99 percent of my barbel 1 hour before it got dark and 2, 3 hours after dark. So focus on these times. Thats why i found barbel fishing good in autumn as it gets dark early. And another thing is the weather. Again like day time there is zero point fishing fir barbel unless its cloudy and mild weather. It akso helps if the river is a little muddy and coming down after rain. Barbel fishing is not as hard as carp fishing if you fish the right time and conditions. Barbel arnt fussy with food either. Luncheon meat and pellets always works.

12lbs river bream 😮😮😮 thats a cracking fish, well done with that one 👍👍👍 I fish the Nene in Northants and i know the stretches where the barbel are caught,in the club I'm a member of but can i bloody catch one....nope !!! Personally I'd keep fishing below that weir rather than the slower water, you're more likely to catch barbel there and chub. Try maximising your chances with paste wrapped around your lead or around the pellet. Don't give up,im sure you'll get one 👍👍👍 I've liked and subscribed.
