Perfect song to show the connection of Country Music's real roots in Scotland. Later, influences from other places fed into the style, but at its core, it is old jigs and reels. His rendition on mandolin really creates an atmosphere.

In the neighborhood I grew up in, it was a source of great pride that Red Rector lived among us. That was back when WNOX and the Mid-Day Merry-Go-Round was the heart beat of country music.

@@WahdaMae it was put down on 1inch videotape, in stereo. I was Stage Manager or Assistant Director on every episode of I-40 and Pickin’. I was incredibly lucky to see some great music, but this was by far my favorite moment. I would love to have copies of the shows.
