I have that lens, and another like it, and a Nikon D3300, but I cannot control the aperture while using Dragonframe. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Yes both your camera and mine the aperture cannot be controlled by DT, but even if I change the fstop manually, nothing changes, and DF says the fstop is 1.1. Yes the connectors are taped over. Thanks in advance for any help you may give. Good video by the way.

If you changed the aperture manually on the lens then it should’ve changed. As long as your lens functions properly. With the connectors taped DragonFrame can’t communicate with the lens at all. DragonFrame can change the ISO and the shutter speed as long as your camera is in full manual. At least if it’s like my D5200. Whatever DragonFrame tells you the aperture is set at is going to be wrong. The only way you can control the aperture is by turning the ring on the lens. Hopefully this makes sense and hopefully I understood your question correctly. Feel free to ask any more questions! I’ll try and help as best as I can!😎

@@DynamicProductionsStopmotion Hi there, yes you understood the question, Unfortunately, this does not work for my Nikon D3300, which is why I thought maybe there is something else you were doing. I have two similar lenses and neither of them show any change in the picture if I turn the aperture ring. I will upgrade the camera, which should fix it. Thanks so much for the reply.

Hello there, I should have tried upgrading the software, but didn't think of it, so anyway, I bought the same model camera you have, cause I already had the connecting wires to the computer and power for a Nikon. Anyway I tried the D5200, and I can now control the aperture by just turning the aperture ring. If you ever go to my channel you will see I have been animating since the 70's, I just got a little stuck on this problem. Thanks for you video, and answering my earlier comment. Best of luck.

This seems like a pretty nice lens if you have to have only 1 lens. Another strategy is to use prime lenses but have multiple of them for a wider range of focal lengths. Just comes down to personal preference probably

Very nice - can I ask why you didn't just go for a prime lens and a slider to "zoom" in? I currently use a 28-55mm but been looking at Prime lens.
@DynamicProductionsStopmotion
@DynamicProductionsStopmotion Жыл бұрын
The lens I bought was cheap😂 But it also had a huge focus range which is one thing my prime 35mm lacked. So I can focus on something really really close. And I actually found the picture quality (lack of barreling and distortion etc) is very very good on this lens. I think they made lenses better back in the film camera days. My dad and I both agree that my eBay lens produces the clearest least distorted image compared to our other lenses. And we have like 8 lenses.
