It boots but into a balck screen now. I still can connect through ssh. What is wrong with me?

They really screwed me with core 2025.1.1! The update caused my bluetooth dongle to not be detected. Now I can't restore any of my backups due to the applied encryption. When I setup my backups months ago with google drive addon encryption was not MANDATORY. I am flaming mad about this BS. I have no way to retrieve the key from the backups. I know , but who reads change-logs? 🤬

Waiting for local hub. For now I am out.

Can I use any door sensor or only aqara?

Unfortunately it’s not possible to add a networks storage to home assistant and use this as backup location if you installed HASS in a Raspberry Pi in a docker container. Hope this will be possible to save the automatic backups to the QNAP NAS. Currently still have to use a Rsync backup script to backup the hole bind mounts in /home/pi/docker/home-assistant 😢

Enforced backup hour is what will make me never use this feature. My automation is already working better for this purpose because i keep my NAS's turned of at night.

I just upgraded my homeassistant container to 2025.1. It works great.

This is one of the worst updates in a while. Breaks Govee, breaks Sonoff, zigbee2mqtt 2.0.0 also a big flop. No ability to turn off encrypted backups. Avoid this update!!!!!

the problem with that encryption key is that you can be 1000% sure that i won't have it when i need it, so i'll stay with the method i use now.

0445 doesn't work for me. I back up to a Samba share on my desktop machine (which then gets backed up to the cloud with everything else on that machine) and guess what, the desktop is not powered up at 0445.

All I want is for them to show what the current value is for the used entities when creating / editing automations etc. that would make my life so much easier

So Mark .. I am using hassio running on an RP5 with an NVME boot drive.. say its dead .. what are the steps I take before I execute the restore?

Encryption mandatory on a local system is horrible. Multiple backups are redundant when the key is a single point of failure. I get it for cloud but it’s an unnecessary and flawed system on a fully local system. Love HA but hate this so much.

Homeassistant Backups were hot garbage until 2025.1. A full backup would previously include media and shares...like why?. The new backup system is better in that it allows you setup what you want to backup as part of your auto backup, big improvement but it's still hot garbage...reason being that a backup is only as good as it's restore process and the HA restore process is fundamentally flawed. Restoring to a new install from a backup might work(if you're lucky) but you're given no indication of its progress other than a spinning wheel. When it does fail, it doesn't give you any information as to why. Worse, if you try to by pass that and create a new HA config and then try to recover into that from your backup, you are provided more information on failures but it fails on things like different Supervisor versions or if you're trying to migrate over install types. Totally un-count-onable.

If anyone, like me, has the problem that the VM won't start because of 'Access Denied,' you just need to disable Secure Boot in the UEFI Boot Menu (press ESC at the boot screen of the VM).

Thanks so much for this, Mark. I've been rocking an HA Blue for some while now, and felt it was starting to creak. When an opportunity came up to buy a couple of HP EliteDesk 800 G2s for £40 a piece, I couldn't say no. So, to one of them, I added an NVMe SSD, a 1TB SATA SSD, 16GB RAM and Coral accellerator (because why not), and - thanks to you - have just installed Proxmox and restored my HA to my first Proxmox VM. Now I just need to grit my teeth and pull the plug on the HA Blue and migrate the Sonoff stick and RFXtrx433e...!

Hey you would need to update your video.. The instructions on linking devices on tuya has changed a little bit. They have change the website interface a bit, but the video is perfect

To get onscreeen keyboard, use ubuntu frame, OSK keybard and wpe kit instead. It works on raspbian Lite, and no need to set up X11. Works great.

I have tried several different attemps at the kiosk and none work. even this command says directory not present "sudo nano /etc/xdg/openbox/autostart"
