I loved Galaga in the 80s and used to be pretty good. This brings back memories but tenson as I watch the play.

Is this thing automatically on when you plug it in? I'm only asking because mine will not turn on. It shows that it's getting power via a little blue light, but there is no picture.

What? Galaga has more than 12 levels? Even though this is one of my favorite games of all time I've never been past level 12.

I played the crap outta this one. The worst was getting stuck after getting the ball because you tried to go up or down a little too soon on the escape. Happens a lot at higher levels. Simple fun.

I don't take any advice from a guy with his hat turned around backwards, unless he is a catcher for Major League baseball. Galaga is one of the most simple games ever created in the arcade. I bet he has women lined out the door for his advice on galaga.

About 40 years ago a trick some guy told me when I was playing this in the local burgur shop in a small holiday town was to not shoot two of the bottom row enemies (think it was the left side) in stage one until they stop shooting at you. Takes a few minutes. Once they stop, no enemy would shoot at you for the rest of the game. Was able to play forever without dying. Best 20cents I'd ever spent.

Fun game. Had it a couple years now.

I remember playing Galaxian back in 1979, on my school lunch hour, here in Ireland. Then Galaga when it came out ... I remember the awe with which we greeted each new machine as it came into the little shop we used to frequent ... Pac-Man, Phoenix, Scramble, Frogger, Defender, Ghosts 'N' Goblins, . sigh! those were the days!

I never doubled up. There is actually a way to get a perfect score on the challenging stage, with just one ship. I quit playing this game after I hit one million.

Nice video. I don’t think you mentioned that on stage 10 they don’t shoot when coming out. Also, I got 100% shooting ratio once. I bet a guy I could do it and got very motivated. The stars aligned. Actually, I fired 1 shot and hit 1 alien and then killed myself lol.

This brings back memories. I was sort of sneaky back when I was a kid playing this game and few others. I would use a large paperclip, slightly unfolded, and shoved it in the return coin slot. Moving it back and forth would trip the coin counter for a credit. Yea I know shady but didn't have much money at the time and the console systems at the time were no where near the quality of an arcade game at the time.

So not sure if it wasn't explained properly or I just missed it... What do you mean by rank a, b, c etc. Also you were talking about parking your ship and mention things like stage zero... What does stage zero mean? Games start with stage 1 generally so I'm just a little confused

That is an outstanding game. It would have been cool if they would have used the controllers in other games, maybe even in conjunction with a joystick in the other port. These were encoders with 16 positions in a circle, rather than the arc you'd get with the potentiometers in the paddles.

I still love this game. Need to try it out on my 7800+.

The driving controllers are one per port. It uses the joystick lines.

oh if U want LED lights to work on a head set U have to plug in the USB from it

Bought one, it lasted about 2 hours, froze and started making a hideous screeching noise. Turned it off then let it rest, turned back on and wouldn’t load. Total garbage!

My friend told me the secret to Galaga is to always go after the red bugs first. Make it a priority to eliminate the red bugs first and you will be much better at this game.
