Saddle soap should be sparingly on top to get dirt and shit off but i cant imagine how it would soften leather cause its not suupposed to be soaked in. I would be using obrnaufs grease for sure in the sparky environments.

This also helps prevent your glasses from fogging. The fabric absorbs your sweat
