I have been working at the VA for two years after being in the army for eight. Only in the last couple months have I started translating military lingo to civilian language. Things like Clinic NCOIC being changed to Administration Officer. Because when you dig around USA jobs like I have (I've applied to 76 jobs over 2 years) you start to see that most administration support jobs require way less than what we did in the military. Additionally changing the banner "US army" to "Department of Defense" makes it look like you were way more official in that role.

Good info…the only exception I have with “apply again” is that soldiers only have so long until they are out the services pushing to the right will hinder their chances
I signed a contract with 1-month notice, but I thought that it's too much time :/ if there's a new job coming, often they won't wait that long to start.. and I can't afford to quit before securing a new position

General question- suppose a person used crack or MJ 5-10 years ago and no one knows about it and an applicant doesn't mention that in FS86. Same thing can be for someone who paid for sex etc. In that case how an investigator finds that out.
@bigtonekd778 ай бұрын
Frankly, the investigator might never learn this information, but they will attempt to obtain any negative information during the background investigation. It's always best for an applicant to be honest and forthcoming. It's a criminal offense to be dishonest during the process, but there are other reasons to be honest. The applicant might work toward a promotion or dream job down the road and have to take a poly for the clearance or the job. Naturally, failing the poly would likely cause the applicant to lose both. For applicants who have been dishonest on a prior application, it's never too late to submit a written self-report to clear the air and mitigate any concerns.

@@bigtonekd77 Investigators do have the ability to check internet footprint (email, messages, porn habits etc.). At what point or what situation will make them to do that? Also, sending money to non-citizen parents can damage your chance for clearance? Thanks.

In any interview, a man's best attire is a suit, tie, white button-down shirt, socks, and shoes. I put a dagger next to shoes if it is in your house and you don't wear shoes at home and a double-dagger next to socks if you are the kind of person who likes to go completely barefoot around the house.

in regards to the foreign contact section, Ive already listed 4 people on the equip but have plenty of more contacts because most of my siblings live in Mexico, for example Cousins, aunts, uncles from both part of my mother and father and hometown neighbors which of course I have communion when I travel to Mexico and rarely trough Facebook since I’m in the U.S., my question is how many am I supposed to list or can I just write a description that I have a foreign family heritage? Thank you

Actually the Linked In tip might not be so secure. I had what i feel are scammers contact me thru what I thought was a legit company, with the names of guys I verified work for that company on Linked In... but they just sent me a wonky looking check for over $8000 for equipment and training bonus. Obviously my danger meter is on full alert. But yeah... Linked In might be safe itself, but people are stealing identities off there.

I really appreciate this video, I had the chance to fix my sf 86 and I did include my marijuana use six years ago, I smoked at the the age of 18 right after my father passed and I was hoping that my honesty is rewarded. I just had no idea we had to record even marijuana usage. Thanks again!

Hi guys, thanks for the information, 5 years later and the video still helping people. I do have a question (if I may), and please, be "brutally" honest with me. I tried marijuana for the first time when I was in high school, nothing serious, just experimenting and it was literally less than 3 times. But then I went to college and I started smoking frequently, and since then I have being smoking pretty much every day until I stop 3 months ago because I'm joining the ARMY (Now I'm 34 years old). I am very interested in a job that requires a top secret clearance and I estimate that by the time to apply for the clearance comes, it would only be about 8 months since my last use. Based on my history with marijuana, what are the real chances of getting the clearance? *never had legal issues* If you could please give me your opinion it would be of a lotta help!
@brittneydavis8662 Жыл бұрын
You can get the clearance. I would say when it comes to the military just be honest in the enlistment process. If you lie at MEPS and it comes up for a security clearance later then it could cause problems for you. Honesty is the best policy

I don't agree with what she said about the expunged records. I know people who have gotten through security clearance when their records were expunged prior to that within that 7 year time span. And I don't get investigating expunged records if you went through your lawyers and everything was legal. Expungement means that the record or charge didn't exist. So there's no reason or need to state it or for background investigators to be concerned at all about it.

As long as they used a protection, it should be fine... But more seriously, what if the subject of the fling becomes pregnant? How does one explain fling omitting "close contact"? The fling was not a close contact?
@bigtonekd772 жыл бұрын
Hi Theodore. It would be really convenient if we had more specific guidance than "close and continuing" when attempting to determine who to report. The reality is that many people are in a grey area. There is some confusion over this. Some agencies have created their own definition to clarify this issue. Certain Intelligence Community agencies are much stricter than others, so the answer to your question would depend on the agency. The use of "protection" has no bearing on your security clearance or whether to report. If the "fling" becomes pregnant and you are aware, then you have continued contact. This would be reportable as continuing contact, and the child would certainly be reportable when you disclose family. I hope this helps.

What kind of questions should I ask about my performance before I leave? They just ended my contract three months early.
@patriciapatraframe9632 жыл бұрын
If you have ahd a performance appraisal review it first and then ask your manager about any changes in performance since then. Ask what they thought your strengths have been and any suggestions for improvement. Also ask if they would be willing to write a reference letter or give you a reference. IF the manager is willing to write or talk, be sure you give them some points you want made about your qualifications and work. Do not be surprised if they will not do this, some companies do forbid managers from doing this or require permission from HR or senior management.

@@patriciapatraframe963 they didn’t give me any performance review and just totally ghosted me. I know my job was done well!
@patriciapatraframe9632 жыл бұрын
@@AFutureLegend If they already ended your employment and are ignoring your requests, it is very hard to get information. Instead you need to look at what your specific role and goals were and ensure you can describe on your resume and in interviews how you achieved both.
