I was at this gig, loved the music, but I swear the sound just sucked in that venue. I mean you can hear it in this video. There was very little bass, the saxophone sounded really screechy, and there was absolutely no infill for the middle of the crowd, just the speaker towers on either side of the stage. Still loved it though

New Years 1994/5 I was in Stuart Braithwaite’s bedroom with Fran Healy, and about 10 other people, while Eugene sat on the bed playing this song. The party was raging in the rest of the flat but everyone in the room was quiet apart from a few people doing the harmonies. It was magical at the time but it’s wild now to think about given the success Mogwai and Travis went on to have after that too. Your uploads bring back so many memories for me… from exs who LOVED the Fanclub, to fun times with old friends. ❤

I was at a New Year’s party ‘95/96 at Stuart Braithwaite’s flat in the West End of Glasgow with my pal Fran Healy and we sat in Stuart’s bedroom listening as Eugene Kelly played this song on acoustic. Was before Mogwai and Travis became well known but I remember everyone being all hush like ‘shhh…that’s Eugene Kelly’… because of the Nirvana shoutout. Think his band was Captain America/Eugenius at the time. Was really cool to get that personal a performance of the song. Makes me laugh now coz Fran was the least cool musician in the room… he was my mate from school but I always wished he was in Mogwai. Anyway… thanks for posting the clips. Am auld and divorced now and they’ve put me in the mood to get out to some of these gigs you’re going to.

Really pissed off… have loved this band since the beginning but haven’t listened for a few years… went down the rabbit hole today and wondered if they had any gigs coming up… only to find out they played around the corner from me last month! Hope you enjoyed it. Norman is one of my heroes.
